Hey y’all, I’m looking for some advice on my first taco’s upgrades. What is the biggest size wheel/tire combo I can get with a 3 inch lift? Everything I have right now is stock. I’d really appreciate any help, feel free to include info on your trucks!
Edit: 5 lug, not trying to make my truck LT or anything for off roading, I want to go for the lifted look. Also no cutting/trimming is preferred.

    265/75/16
    265/70/17
There are a few choices in a 32 that may not rub, but 33's 285/75/16 or 285/70/17
Are goning to require trimming and a good alignment which may require new uca's.

Edit.... if it's a 5 lug then this may not apply.
I think the largest is 245/75/16

Yep. OP, with a 5 lug truck, you’re really limited. Not sure you can even do a 3” lift on one. Check out the 5 lug thread; you should find the info you need there.

His photos show a 5 lug truck, so he’s on 15s.

I edited my post to include a 5 lug size. Pretty sure it's the biggest.

Spacers or the bilstein 5100's I believe are your only choice for the front.

    Wish I could help. :notsure:

The biggest question here is if the OP is willing to do any trimming/chopping? If not, then go with the biggest tire size the manufacture says you can do and go from there, which is more or less what I did and not wanting to do any trimming or chopping. I basically want to keep a stock setup, but with upgraded parts and just shy of any trimming or chopping. If my setup starts to require chopping of metal, then I do something just one below that "extreme".

Other than that, I don't mind drilling holes for radio related equipment?! :notsure: Most already know that part about me. HAHAHA :laugh::rofl::rofl::rofl:

    I know @MadTaco461 will know about tire/wheel size for a 5-lugger.

If any radio questions, just PM me and I can help out there. :D:p

I’d think I’d like the get the 3 inch lift (if that’s even possible) and get the largest wheel size that will fit after I get the lift. Do you know the different types of lifting I can do on my 5 lug..?

    No I don't. I have a 4wd 6-lug and don't know very much outside of that scope.

    I know more about radios.

I know both Mikes should know more, but they are likely too busy clambering back home from a desert run this weekend (i.e. they're coming back home today). It was an annual big event out in the desert here in Cali called Superstition.

Anyways, wish I could help. :pout:

If there are ever any radio questions regarding trail comms, I can help there.

Btw, do you have a goal? I mean, what do you want to do with your truck? High speed stuff, semi-rock crawling capability, over landing type stuff, ??? If you want to rock crawl you're limited in a sense, but I've been in a 2wd that did stuff that just amazed me. Having a rear locker on a 2wd will take you just about anywhere, within reason of course. You just need to know what your end goal is for your build and it should help with decision making a bit better. Going to get SUPER STUPID EXPENSIVE, just in case you don't realize???

In short, is this your end goal, LT setup:

Woah, that video is awesome. Yeahhh I don’t think I’m going rock climbing necessarily. My end goal is this:
    • 3 inch lift with the biggest blacked out tire/wheel size I can fit (all terrain preferably)
    • New black mesh grille (found one already)
    • New headlights
    • Fender flares or cladding
    • If there’s money leftover, I’d consider a push bar/bumper guard whatever they’re called

    I’d love any advice :)

That isn't "rock crawling", but more of an example of high speed long travel desert style off-roading, if you will.

Here is an example of rock crawling:
    https://youtu.be/-yueI_uErsk

Now, granted, I don't know if the guy is 4wd because I didn't really bother looking further other than just showing you what "rock crawling" is like is all I'm trying to show here.

Finally, my intentions are NOT to confuse you, but WHERE are you planning on going... types of off-roading trips???

    Or

Is it just, more or less, that "lifted truck look"?

Knowing the different types of terrain will help with your build or future build and not just throw money at it. In other words, you could throw THOUSANDS of $$$ at it and do just about anything.

Your list, from what I know or think I know, is starting to resemble a LT type setup? :notsure: But yet it sounds as if you just want that lifted look?

    Just say'n and brainstorm'n here, okay. :thumbsup::fistbump:

Oh, and say "BYE BYE" to your gas economy once you put on bigger tires!!! :bananadead:

Tacomas are already notorious for having bad gas mileage and bigger tires ain't help'n the cause!!! :D:p

Oh, no sir, I’m just aiming for the lifted look. I don’t plan on doing any major off road trips or anything like that (maybe mudding on the occasion).. just going for the look :)

Okay. That helps with people telling you all that you would need to buy then. You'd be saving quite the cash then with people knowing that. Other than that, they'd be telling you to buy King, Icon, Fox suspension, along with a multitude of other items that you wouldn't really need.

Hence, the reason for my questions.

Lastly, do you care if your truck needs some trimming or any cuts to the frame/body? "Biggest wheel/tire" is a matter of a view point. You could probably put HUGE mudders on, but that would require a bit of chopping and such is what I am getting at.

    Or

The biggest tire/wheel size without any cutting or trimming.
