TWSS 2018 What Did Santa Bring? (Photo thread)

Package was delivered today! I’m super excited about this year, because my secret Santa was so awesome, and I was picked to be a backup. I volunteered to be a backup all three years that I’ve been on this site, and I’m so pumped that I had the opportunity this year! You all will see why it was so special this year when my giftee posts! It was a blessing!!!

It was my pleasure! I know life happens, BUT if you were just a douche and didn’t come through on this fun and thoughtful event...you should be ashamed of yourselves! I’m going to go rub my pregnant wife’s stomach!

@ProfessorX thank you so incredibly much! All of these gifts are perfect! I just got home from a work trip and my mom was watching our dogs. I was explaining the whole secret Santa thing to my wife, and Mom, and we were all blown away by the generosity!

So funny that you were randomly chosen to be my back up! Thank you again for everything! You did your research! The Vans t-shirt fits great, I love the Kershaw knife (assisted open, light weight, and sharp), the high lift base will provide me some additional safety and security, and the quick fists will make mounting all my gear much easier!

And lastly, thank you for the note! Means a lot that people like you are willing to be backups! Congratulations on your little one! My daughter is the best thing to ever happen to me!

 

@Karate1993 I’m glad the shirt fits and my wife did all of the wrapping. It was her idea as well. Sorry you got shafted this year! And thanks again for all of the cool stuff you got for me this year!

@TWSS I received a package today. To my SS or Backup SS, thank you very much. You are a true blessing and I appreciate the gifts very much. The patches rock and I'll be putting those in the tacoma today. The headlamp, spork, bottle & cup will be surely used when I go hiking or camping in the near future. Sandies will be demolished by my pregnant sister. She thanks you....haha. The gloves will come in handy when working on the Tacoma. But! The darn tough gift card was over the top. That surely will come in handy when I start my Appalachian trail in March. I am truly appreciative of the gifts. Thank you again.

 

You'll love Darn tough I wear them pretty much every day. Are you doing a through hike or just a section hike?

 

in previous years as one of the elves it was random. No real trends, had senior members as well as newer members both fail to participate.

 

Thank you backup Santa's and those that volunteered to be backups and pick up the slack of the bad santas that also volunteered to be part of this event and didn't pull their weight. Also thank you to everyone that played! It was a fun time.

 

everyone got their gifts before Easter so I suppose that's a win. there've been a few packages that bounced all around the US in years past haha

I agree with it being a mental game. I recommend reading Appalachian Trials. Very good info in the book. I appreciate the kind words Good luck to you also.
