Sorry, I meant on the road. Are you on fairfax county parkway any? That's usually my longest drives.

Well of course I can't log into my gmail at work today to get the photos, so y'all are gonna have to wait a longer for my pics/story of yesterday. It was a wild one for sure. 5/7 would not recommend.

Just feels like there is so much more power on tap.
Here is my 26" Rocky MT. Attitude.

great falls is beautiful. I need to get back up there when it warms up a little and go exploring. Last time I went with the kids and didn't make it very far before the youngest got tired.

Nice rig Crunchy! I agree that roll speed is quite advantageous and for going uphill is where I feel the real gains. On my 27.5 I can do fountainhead, but on a 29er its a completely different feel and I barely have to stop. I have a 29er Transition smuggler that has a fun head angle for what it can do.

It was great!! Don't get me wrong I would not knowingly enter into that situation again. I don't think I have ever had a day when I thought someone was going to flip, Hit a tree, run off the side of a mountain, slide backwards at 30mph down a mountain, etc. My pin stripes are more like big fat dry erase stripes but no real damage. Nothing makes you forget about all your real world worries like a day like that!!

Sounds like you guys had a wild time. I didnt go because of gas costs and the shutdown, but i thought that place was one of the ones that closed in the winter time.

No last time I checked it wasnt really enforced there., and honestly you made a wise decision. My home is lower in elevation than flagpole, by 2000feet, and we still have snow and Ice on the ground. All the trails usually close early spring due to freeze thaw cycle.

It's possible but unlikely for me to be on Fairfax county pkwy. My wife has family that lives in McLean and I drive through that area when I go to tennessee and to/from flagpole so it's possible you've seen me on 66 at some point.

You either had balls because you had an idea of how it would be, or found out when you got there and were like "send it, I drove 3 hours to wheel and I'm gonna wheel"

It was more like we got halfway up and got to a point where going back down wasnt an option.

A little of both, with some stupidity sprinkled in there. I was watching weather while leading up and saw it was going to rain wednesday, then be below freezing the whole time until yesterday, but I didn't think it'd be as bad as it was. We could have turned around at the first sheet of ice we had to traverse uphill, buttttttt we didn't :censored:

I believe it's like 4000 feet at the top. I want you to imagine what you dealt with half through.

Now imagine that its paved, same amount of trees, no gaurd rail.

That's my neighborhood. I'd be lying if I said I havent left my truck in the last 4 months at least a mile from my home due to ice on the downslope. In fact 2 weeks ago I thought I was gonna have to leave it because the ice was so thick (2 inches) from that freeze. I live up on the mountain right before exit 13 on 66

That just sounds so shitty. I wouldn't want to deal with that on a regular basis. Would chains make a difference and make it driveable?
