The urd intake draws ambient temperature air.
So does the OEM 2nd gen intake at 45/55 mph.
Urd owners can flex some idle muscle but at speed, it's drawing the same air.

I was referring to the ones in the OEM intakes used to quiet down the noise.

A true CAI would make it's own cold air lol...or just route some tubing from the air intake into the cab and blast the AC

Originally you had short ram air intakes that just draw in hot air under the hood. Cold air intakes either plumb the intake down low in the bumper or try and close off the filter in the bay. They are comparing to the short ram. Not to the stock intake that is already drawing in cool air from the fender.

That's a crappy comparison then, and treading fairly close to false advertising if true, since companies like K&N make their claims against stock...

They are claiming HP gains vs stock. Not sure of they claim it actually gives colder air than stock but they might. Just think of it as a type of aftermarket intake. Ram air, short ram and cold air.

Some cars do benefit. Like my LS6 motor. I've seen gains of 12hp though mostly in high rpms on back to back dyno tests. Intakes benefit from being paired with other mods. Say take a car with high flow headers, cat elimination and exhaust will make more HP from an intake mod than a stock car. On supercharged applications an intake can give you 30+whp.

Yeah, on K&N's site they have a whole section on "Cold Air Intakes" but if you actually read the descriptions, they don't actually specify the temp of the air that goes in, at least not that I saw. They do claim that the heat shield helps keep the intake cooler, which is true (sort of), but that's just saying that the air would be hotter without the heat shield.

So it seems like "Cold Air" is more of a slogan rather than an actual claim (like Chevy calling itself the "longest lasting more dependable").

You could reroute your AC to blow directly into your intake manifold. Talk’n bout cold, ram air intake baby.

You mean like the dodge demon does stock. Passenger ac is routed to cool intake charge. Or killerchillers that us ac to cool air to liquid intercooler. https://killerchiller.com

Remove the elbow inside the fender well for in the stock air intake. That might give you 3HP. Remove seats, interior paneling, body panels, spare tire, pretty much everything except the windshield and lights. Use milk crate and bungee cord as a seat. These mods will increase acceleration.
Please search the forum, there's already been tons of threads on this.

Did that to my first talon. Took her from 3200lbs to 2800lbs and from 170whp to 405whp. Rocket ship!! I did keep the seats for safety. Lol.

Wow amazing responses. Thank you so much. This 04 toy is my newest toy I ever owned the last one was a 85 toy. Its awesome to come in here and really learn. I don't think I could afford a super charger lol. Now I know a after market cold air intake is a joke.
