I appreciate other people's builds and like seeing what they do with their trucks, even if they're different from my taste. That said, I don't particularly like the usual cookie cutter build:
    • SCS rims look bad. Bronze TRD beadlocks look even worse. The best-looking rims are the TRD OR rims with the blackout vinyl on the truck or T4R rims. I love my SR5 rims.
    • The TRD PRO grill looks bad. The SR grill looks the best out of all the options.
    • The TRD PRO suspension is garbage compared to relatively cheap aftermarket options.
    • The TRD PRO in general is a waste. The only excuse to own one is being loaded with cash, not caring about the extra cost. Otherwise, TRD PRO owners bought a PRO to have the ability to finance the bro look with suspension and features, or they didn't do research on trim packages and are ignorant and uninformed, or they are a total bro / poseur. Sometimes all 3.
    • Cement and Voodoo Blue are not good colors for the Taco. White is the best color for the Taco.

General truck impressions that seem unpopular around here:
    • The automatic transmission shifts great. It holds 6th fine on the highway. Anyone complaining about it is probably afraid to mash the skinny pedal out of irrational fear of damaging the truck, or has literally never owned a truck before. The AT and the engine on the Taco is like a damn rocket ship compared to my old Ranger or my wife's Fit. Just mash the accelerator, it will GO, even without ECT.
    • The rear drum brakes work fine. Anyone complaining about them probably leaves too little distance between them and the vehicle in front of them, drives too fast, or just drives like a douche. My truck is over the weight rating and I've never had a problem, even when towing.
    • Wheel spacers are perfectly acceptable if used properly. Anyone telling you otherwise is wrong.

This wasn't a problem for me before, never even noticed it. But I got a feeling it will be now.

    Cruise Control works fine.

RPMs below the red portion of the tach are of no concern.

TRD Pro haters, in general, are angry little people with too much interest in how other folks spend their money.

For the record, I researched trim packages very carefully, am quite informed regarding OR vehicles in general and have helped build a rock crawler and a baja rail from the ground up (18in travel and 12 in travel vehicles) so I know a fair amount about suspension. I'm not much of a "Bro". I'm more of a big ass dad with a sweet looking truck. So, none of your 3 Pro buyer characteristics apply.

Bottom line though, I bought the Pro because it was the trim I wanted with MT and NO Moonroof. I really didn't have to spend much more for it.

It just HAPPENS to look a lot cooler/cleaner than yours, bone stock, which I think is a great bonus.

Common ground: White is the best color.

I would argue about the right color or trim, but this is the unpopular TW opinion thread

A snorkle needs to be waterproof. That thing is not. It's a "desert air intake" and is meant to take in less dust. It's not made for water crossings.

It's my unpopular opinion. Nothing personal.

There's nothing wrong with PRO or being a bro or spending money on a trim package. It's just money. My opinion is that it's a waste, and it's an unpopular opinion (which is what this topic is on).

This thread and my opinions aren't an attack on you, please don't take it that way.

Oh, I didn't. I was just sparring for fun.

For the record, posting about the Pro not being worth the money is NOT unpopular. In fact, it is extremely common. It may well be the most common statement in TW. It always cracks me up.

Maybe if you only go 70mph max, and or never have to go up hills. I drive highway every day of the week set my cruise at 80 and every incline of the interstate it at least drops to 5th gear, and on any hills it drops to 4th revs go to 3200rpms every time. Personally I think they should have just put the 4.30 gear in the rear instead of the 3.92 on the v6. But that's my, probably unpopular opinion.

My MT has none of these issues. I can understand the complaints with the auto. Not sure if the 4:30 rear end would help. It’s the way Toyota has things set up. Just my 0.02.

It does. I was referring to them putting 4:30 gears in the auto.
