The dealer I went to didn't approve my frame for replacement. They claimed I drilled the hole in my frame. I have another inspection at a different dealership on Tuesday for a second opinion.

Jesus, what made them assume that? That would be a SHITTY situation if the second dealer refuses to change it as well.

I would be shocked if that doesn't qualify. My first thought was to reach for horseradish, for some reason.....

Haha If you throw some rye bread and sauerkraut at my frame you may have a pretty good Reuben!

Update: I got to the dealership this morning at 7:35. They put it on a lift for me and I pointed out the bad places. The techs seem to be hung up on the word "perforation". They also just happened to the lift supporting my frame directly under the true perforation, so that was not visible. They are submitting the claim to Toyota "so it will not be the dealerships decision" as to fail the frame or not. After eaves dropping and seeing the techs navigate the Toyota frame recall information, I don't believe they actually inspected my frame last week. They had to have an experienced guy come and show them how to navigate the frame checklist.

With all that said, they supposedly submitted the claim to Toyota with pictures (hopefully ones I emailed them) and I should hear back in 3-4 days............. I'm doubtful that they are on my team, but I'll kee y'all posted.

From what I understood from the techs and service manager that I spoke with, when the dealership submits the claim to Corporate, its pretty much a done deal that youre getting a frame replacement. From what I was told, when the dealership submits it, Corporate takes it as "The dealer believes it needs a new frame", otherwise they wouldnt have submitted the claim in the first place.

Just my $0.02 on what I was told by people from my dealer.

Do you happen to have pictures of your delamination that caused it to fail? The reason I ask is because it would be ammunition against my dealership where they passed my frame for the same issue. Would be a huge help. Thanks!!

Go to a different dealer and show them your pics. I wouldn’t volunteer info about previous dealer opinions.

Did you get a different opinion from the other dealer yet? They denied my claim at The dealership. I'm pretty upset about it. The folks that denied it are the "regional corporate office". They won't even send somebody to come look at it, which they said they would do. The claim sent in did not even measure my perforations, so it was not, in my opinion, in compliance with the settlement document. On to a different dealership. Unfortunately I think they will also have to get approval from the same corporate office, which also is not who should approve or deny the claim according to the settlement document.

The second dealership sent pics in for review since it failed in their eyes but didn't include meaaumeasure of the hole. I received a call back from the first dealer after I left a bad review about them and after closer look agreed with me that something is wrong with my frame. They have a regional service tech coming out next Wednesday to do another inspection. I dropped it off today and they set me up with this. So another week and I'll have a corporate decision.

Are later years (such as my 2013) bound to eventually be recalled?

From everything that I have heard Toyota discontinued having frames manufactured by Dana Corp. after suing them in 2010, so 2011-15 models have frames manufactured in Mexico. The 2011-15 Tacomas haven't been included in the "LSC" and doesn't look like they will be.

EDIT: This isn't a recall but a limited service campaign "LSC".

Where did you leave a bad review? Google? Their website? I'm very disappointed. They said they would send the tech out after submitting the claim and then called me back to tell me it was denied before that ever happened. All I can think about is my two year old and I going down the highway at 70mph and my frame failing.... Thanks for taking care of me, Toyota. FYI, a definition of steel delamination is "a mode of failure caused by corrosion". The fact that they only put the word "perforation" in the legal work is kind of crappy.

From my own experience with a Chrysler (Dodge) area rep, you're totally at his mercy. Without going into the long story, I made a warranty claim thru a dealership on an extremely low mileage truck that was like a month out of warranty. The company area rep denied me and the dealership without even coming out. I appealed to speak with him and we were connected via phone. He still refused to come out, and he was a nasty douche bag from the first words. I went to another dealership who was sympathetic and couldn't believe how he treated me. They told me though, that since it was a posted denial in the corporate system, they couldn't 'officially' help me. But, in another long story, they found a way to help me.

Try to trade your truck in at a Toyota dealership. When I did that the dealer deducted $1500.00 from the first trade in offer after they put it on a lift. I was told that the truck is structurally unsafe in the event of an accident. He pointed to the frame delamination when he told me this..

    See sig.....
Literally just started perusing this thread and then remembered I have the frame settlement letter. So, get this.....the frame replacement program expires from 12 years from first date of use for my truck - which is TODAY. Jan 31rst, 2019. Says it right on the damn letter. Guess I am idiot for not getting my truck in to have any perforations inspected sooner when I initially received my letter. I live in Florida, so hopefully the frame isn't too bad. Going to look at it tomorrow in detail. Wonder how much a new frame would cost me? LOL.

If I was in your shoes and are really concerned about your frame even being from Florida, I would call the dealership today while it's still 1/31/19 to make an appointment to have your frame inspected (even if they are closed I would leave a message) and explain what you just posted here. This may give you a leg to stand on and shows you acted before the cutoff date, with Toyota seeing you called they may let you still have it inspected under the extended warranty. It's worth a shot and better than doing nothing. ~ Good luck, Mark
