Also I guess a switchable duel setup wouldn't be a bad idea...

Even a aftermarket battery strap wouldn't have prevented that. most wont cover those caps.


Anyways as of batteries. Optimas are awesome but they are a lot I think. but you can mount them any which way and they won't have those cap like that since they are gel. Autozone has their gold batteries and they are cheap and have a 3 year no questions ask warranty. when I put one in my 06 it was like $100 with tax.

 

That sucks ! I have the Autozone Gold Series Battery as well. I just exchanged it last month with no problems. As hot as it gets here I'm not going to pay too much. A/Z has been good about replacements !

I already went and recovered the truck. Nothing happened to it.
I went to interstate batteries and got an Optima RedTop. It came out to $140 since my company gets distributor pricing. List price is $190.

Optima red tops are good... until they go dead once. I have a few, and they just don't hold a charge as well after dying once. The yellow top deep cycles is probably a better choice.. at least that's what I'll do in the future...

You could cut up the 09+ center console ones out of the autos' lol... You can have mine if you want to experiment with them.

But usually Marine stuff has that.... quick search on ebay has some metal ones...

Alma Imports used to sell used Optimas, but I don't think they do any more. I think they still sell used batteries though.
