Funny I can't find the DE on my side of Houston. The 18 (to me) has more lively citrus than the standard 10, and the standard 10 is more salty.

I'm not sure about specific DFW shops, but usually Total Wine has a great selection.

Have you tried Highland Park 10yr old? It's much less Smokey.

thank you... well i've yet to try the 10, so that's going to the top of my list. i'll save the 18 (and GM Signet) for something special.

I read an interesting article last month about starting and maintaining an 'infinity bottle' I'm not sure if it was linked here or not, but it is a cool concept. maybe you could get one of those going @TRD-ED

I had to Google it to see what it was. An Infinity Bottle sounds like a great idea. Plus it gives me good reason to buy a decanter!

Pretty sure it's the 127.9, I'll have to look again to be 100%. I just snagged it since I'd never seen it before. I've heard that it's a fire breather for sure.

They had one 107, and five SR's, and that's the most I've seen anywhere that I've checked between here to Atlanta and Knoxville. But I've seen that people can't find Eagle Rare and one of our ABC Stores has an entire display of it.

Well frack me. In the last few days I've been told by two different people at separate stores that Hibiki Harmony is out of production. Apparently they are "changing out the barrels" at the distillery, or something to that effect. There will be no HH production in 2019 and whatever's out there is just remnants and once that's gone, no mas, until...? @bvbull200 - you seem to be pretty well plugged in, can you confirm with someone?

Grab them while you can, boys. I guess it won't be long until we see $200+ bottles on the market.

Had a pretty long discussion with a guy this weekend about Japanese whisky. We talked plenty about some of the stuff that has gone discontinued, but Japanese Harmony never came up. I'll hopefully be seeing him this week again and will see if he knows anything.

The is a Japanese whiskey group I'm in on Facebook, too. I'll see if they know anything. Of course, the easiest indication would be when bottles start selling for $200 like you said. :(

If this is true I’m gonna kick myself for not buying the one I saw in Key West. I was thinking hard about buying it mainly cuz I haven’t tried any japenese stuff and am curious...but thought to myself.. no you have Elmer T back at the hotel and no reason to travel with a bottle back to DFW and risk breakage etc... fack :facepalm:lol

I can beat that believe it or not! At a local store this is what I saw. So rediculous I had to take a picture.

That's insane, never paid more than $30 for it. I avoid buying even the normal priced bottles at shops that mark up prices like that.

Yeah that was at Keg and Bottle. I couldn't find the original photos so I screenshotted from my Instagram.

I've been working on one for a little while. It's in a Willett Family Estate Rye bottle. Obviously I've been a little light on the pours for some of them. I originally planned on filling before tasting, but I had a pour a few weeks ago. It was okay, but it doesn't discourage me from keeping it up. Every bottle will be different, of course.

Some folks say fill it, then drink. Some say get it started, then drink it along the way - a pour after every few new additions to see how it changes over time.

Only thing I'd caution is to not put in things with dominant flavor profiles. They can really take over. It might behoove you to finish that Ardbeg instead of adding a couple ounces to the infinity bottle ;).

Yeah, from the articles I read they recommended not mixing wildly different whiskies; things like rye with a highland scotch - the rye would just dominate the flavors. I'm going to start mine by mixing a few ryes with... I'm not sure yet!
