oh yeah it was about my roof rack...if you don't want to drill then you'll have to look at other options that mount without drilling, the Smittybilt one won't mount any other way. I would not trust magnets to hold it, that would have me paranoid as hell anytime I'm on the freeway lol.

I don't remember the name of the brand but there is at least one (Thule maybe?) that mounts where the door meets the roof line, probably by gripping that edge somehow. Don't know if it would have the same weight rating, but the Smittybilt's rating is only like 250lbs anyway

 

Found a machine shop that is willing to skim the exhaust manifold on the Z. They're an odd shape so no one wanted to touch em. This guy wasn't so sure about it either but said he'd give it a go and it looks like he making progress

 

I suppose it's marginally better than looping it around the rear axle

axle can probably handle more force but I'd rather break a shackle than have the axle come loose or twist.
