I dont know if it's just me but I've been driving toyotas for years. Everyone of them have been gutless bastards. Old Camry gutless but.good low tq and throttle response. 1996 4runner. Good throttle response, some low tq and gutless up top. Wifes 2md gen 4.0L has no low end tq, throttle response is poop and I have to half throttle or downshift for power but at least it goes. 3rd gens seem to be even worse on low end tq. I wish Toyota didnt care about that max hp number and would have just gave the motors a bit more low end. It's a truck. You should not have to wind it up like a motorcycle or vtech honda.

But again as long time Toyota owner I expect performance loss for gains in reliability.

I dunno bro, I had a 13 camry with the 2.5 4cyl and it was pretty darn quick, never gave me issues whatsoever under any circumstance.

I'm taking old Camry like from 80s. Lol. Buddy had a 90s supercharged Camry with full body kit. That car moved and was a sleeper even with the body kit. Lol

    You've never driven a 2GR equipped RAV4. That's right, a RAV4. I owned one (2012), and for a small SUV that thing would scoot.

I'm not trying to get into a dick size comparison contest. (I'll lose) I'm just looking for a crew cab 2.7l owner with the same issue. Everybody wants to post their gratuitous dickhole comments, I'm not into it. Brass tax is what I wanna get into.

I find that anything over 65 and the mpgs start to tank (TRD OR 6MT).

Just did a test run on the latest OVtune file the other day (120km trip), returned 10.5L/100km (~22mpg) with the cruise set at 101km/hr.

Rev hang IS a thing lol.

Me too! But that was not always the case with me. Until recently I always had a V-8 domestic in my driveway, my last one was in '08.

People forget, and the new millennium generation don't realize that there was a time when gas was cheap, and big gas guzzlers ruled the world.

And then there was TOYOTA, offering a puny 4cyld that could just run day in/out 24/7 with no issues and decent mpg for the times. I'm talking 80's 4cyld tiny pickup trucks that could get up to 18-20 mpg on the hwy whoop-whoop!

    Some things haven't changed, but...

Actually I haven't. Do tell. I have a ham coax cable running through mine right now. Maybe it's equal to the ratchet strap twist.

I still need to get my truck flashed. I'll see if I can get them to do it when they check out the brake tsb

Never had my truck flashed or updated or tuned. Still 278hp, more than any other Gen and same torque as the last with 500 cc’s less

if you had bought the manual transmission you can bang the gears whenever you want, since its an automatic and a 4 cylinder automatic it cannot smoothly shift thru gears under load because of lag time of the computerized input its gets to signal the gear shifts. you just don't understand the limitations of a automatic 6 speed 4 cylinder truck when it comes to smooth shifts under load, its not going to be like butter.https://media.giphy.com/media/BEFexmyca7Yje/giphy.gif
