what should i do?

so i bought black headlights from a guy on another forum and the first set he sent me had a broken piece so i asked for him to send me new ones that were in the condition he guaranteed. He did but now he's trying to get me to pay for the shipping of the second set, should i be the one to pay? He never said anything about me paying the second time when we originally talked about it...

This guy is pissing me off and i don't want to deal with him anymore but i really don't know who should have to pay for the shipping the second time.

how much is shipping??? he should cover it since he's the one that sent the broken piece in the first place!!

 

That's not your responsibility to pay for. HE should submit a claim to your shipper if the damage was from the shipping. If he sent out a bad part he's an ass and it should be his loss.

 

Let him eat the cost, he sent you a broken good; you have no need to pay extra to get what you originally paid for.

 

okay thanks guys! but ugh it gets worse...we had a deal that i would send my stock ones back to him but when i went to put the new ones in a noticed pieces broken off of mine, from the previous owner not repairing the truck correctly after an accident, so now he's saying that i need to send him the ones i payed for back AND pay for the shipping that he spent and the shipping to send them back to him. i asked if we could work out a deal so i could keep the new ones but he's being a fucking asshole!

 

Make him pay for it. Im not too sure but if your unsatisfied, file a claim against him.

 

i payed him $90 for the headlights and now he wants me to pay another $150! he claims that i only payed for shipping and the blacking out of the headlights and since it's going to cost him $150 to get another set of headlights, the only way i can keep them is to pay that much. FUCK THIS GUY!

 

Just start threatening that you will report him, maybe he will get scared and give u the new headlights

 

i don't know if a 17 year old will scare him. i'll just let the boyfriend deal with it i guess

Save all communication between you and the seller. In case you have to take it further. You should double check what you agreed to pay. If you agreed to 90$ its his problem it broke. His responsibility is to get you what you paid for into your hands. If it broke during shipping its his problem.

 

Never, ever deal with anyone on TN. Just my opinion.

 

it didn't even break during shipping, he knew it was broken and tried to glue it back together but it didn't work. the issue we are having now is that we agreed i would pay $90 and send him my stock headlights back but now he doesn't want them because there is a piece broken so the 2 choices he is giving me are...

1. i put my stock ones back in, send him his back, give him the money for shipping the second set and pay for shipping them back to him. so basically i wouldn't be getting my money back and actually paying him more than originally.

2. pay him an additional $150 and keep the headlights and still give him the money for shipping the second set.

Tell him you want what you paid for or you want your money back. This guy seems like a sleezball. You don't have to accept either of his options, they both screw you.
