Just lie to him for Pete’s sake. He still has a great truck that he loves. He may or may not have paid more for it than he should have. He can’t go back now, just let it go.

Nah. He has to tell him. Especially if his buddy has been putting himself in situations where he may have to rely on a locker, well, an imaginary locker unfortunately.

So this thread led me to check my Vin, which does show it having the OR package. Bought it used - 07 Prerunner OR. Has the inverter w/switch but no diff switch. Rear diff has lsd sticker on it but again no lsd switch either. (if it's even supposed to have one for that) Thought the sports had the lsd. As it's been stated, I should have done my research. It's a work truck and came with a trd supercharger so I can't be too mad, just confused.

You sure the VIN says 'Offroad' and not just TRD package? Because what you have is definitely a TRD Sport, not offroad...the ORs always have the diff lock whether they are Prerunners or 4x4s. The Sport models come with the mechanical LSD through 2007 or 2008. There is no switch for the mechanical LSD, it engages automatically. Only the diff locker is engaged via a button/switch.

Unless someone swapped a rear axle from a Sport into your OR and then removed the RR Diff lock switch, but that seems very unlikely.

This was my thought. The pic of his truck shows black mirrors and no hood scoop. I'm guessing he has black door handles and a chrome rear bumper. If so, nobody would go that far to cosmetically turn a sport into an OR. I'm gonna go with the hunch that someone blew up the elocker and put in a LSD. Especially since he has a supercharger. At least they didn't swap in an open diff. I bet there's a wire pigtail above the rear diff.

After reading both your replies, I'd say your hunch, MuddinFun, is very likely. I bet the rear was swapped. According to my vin it 100% is an OR. Had entire chrome grill, mirrors, handles and rear bumber. No hood scoop. I plastiderped all the chrome and replaced the grill. Appreciate the info fellas
