Diagnostic fees are usually applied toward the overall cost of the repair once it's done, but $500 is ridiculous...here in LA they charge you the one hour labor rate for diagnostic fee ($125) and then that goes toward the total repair cost when it's fixed.

I feel pretty confident than taking the truck from them. Having some independent shop work on it or perhaps my friends.

I feel like you took them a fully functional truck, that’s what you should get back.

 

No. Don't give it to them. That price is ridiculous.

This can't be a difficult fix. I bet you there are some frayed wires, something wrong inside BN1, or a bad tow module. Take it home under your discretion and I'll be happy to help you diagnose it.

I agree, but the harness was already kinda jambled to begin with.

This isn't crazy at all. Lights are an easy fix, and everything is pointing to BN1 being the culprit. Worse comes to worse, theres a bad fuse or you need a new integration module. Under $100. I bet you any amount of money something is shorted, a wire is cut, or your integration module is bad.

 

It’s not a very difficult circuit

I forgot about that website. I opened it just now and had my laptop on full blast. My roommate looked at me funny.

 

Yeah but you don't really need to remove the seat to access that plug.

But then again removing the seat is simple, no way that can justify a $500 diagnostic fee.
