Tracking the changes on my 2012 PreRunner V6 SR5 Pyrite Mica

Not really a build thread, but just wanted to document what will go on with my 2012.

I have no grand plans at this point other than driving it and keeping it well maintained, but I do have some ideas on how to make it more my own.

First, as received: Rainy day.


The chrome steps are not to my taste, so 12 bolts later:


Much better! The wife will grumble a little first time she gets in, but she'll get used to it. I don't miss them and I bet I shaved 40 lbs off the curb weight.

I also replaced the mis-matched DRL/indicator bulbs and cleaned up the crusty battery clamp.

That's it for now.

 

Pop plenty of corn, I just got this truck 3 days ago, and it's going to take a while to get things going.

 

Start small. Once you get the mod nuh, it's all down hill from there.

B8 5100s are on the way.

Steelies are staying unless something really good falls out of the sky.

Working to baseline it. The service records are complete via CarFax, but no mention of spark plugs, so that's next. Did the UniFilter on the SAI pump. Want to get the AT serviced, as it's at 68k miles and no mention of transmission service and I don't know if the previous owners towed with it or not. I'll switch to synthetic oil and use an OEM filter at 70k.

 

Incoming: FJ steelies complete with center caps. Takeoffs that have been sitting unused for several years. I'm pumped! stay tuned. 17x7.5 FJ steel wheel with center cap weighs 29.3 lbs.

 

Dusty than hell, but basically unused set of four. I'm pumped!FJ

 

FJ steel wheels, 265/65R17 Nitto G2s, stock suspension.

 

Next up: Bilstein 5100s all around and OME 2883s up front for just a little boost to the stance. It's going to be rad. And super understated. Also incoming, blacked out badge kit.
