I agree, but I've had 6 Toyota pick-ups in 30+ years and the only thing that has broken on any of them was a rear spring on some nasty Baja trails, and an entertaining radio that changed stations on its own (almost kept it for the entertainment). So, it's a great vehicle. I'm a geoarchaeologist and use them in the field, often miles from the nearest road, and wouldn't have anything else, but see my comments on the new Jeep Gladiator here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/jeep-gladiator-on-web-and-can-be-built.590369/

Didn't you say you had the 4 cylinder?? There aren't any changes for the 2.7 so how can it now be "underpowered"??

You sound like a typical millennial "SEE! See everyone! I AM a victim!"

They checked out your truck and nothing is wrong stop being a big baby about it.

It seems like most of the Tacomas are great, but there also seems to be more that were poorly constructed than in the past. As I mentioned elsewhere in this thread, I've had 6 of them over 30+ years and almost no problems, including my 2018 Pro. If Toyota doesn't clean up its act, they will succumb to threats from the Ford Ranger Raptor and Jeep Gladiator that are uniformly POS vehicles, but provide some enticing options, or even standard attributes. Toyota needs to get down to Baja and knock some heads. They won't stay on top if they don't.

Smitty was saying this verbatim back in 2016 and look what happened, new sales records on top of new sales records lol.

Toyota doesnt care about your opinion they care about sales and looking at the #s that matter (sales and profitability) why would they make any changes at all?? Its like telling a team that just won the superbowl they better change their defense "or else" lol

Probably right. My goal was to buy something new and not worry about things like this but... Exactly what I ended up with.

Sounds more like a transmission issue than lack of power. Get them to check the fluid level.

    1. I dont understand the question. The 2.7 is under powered because the new Tacomas weigh more than they used to, and the transmission is still in its infant stage.
    2. I'm 33, I've owned a bunch of vehicles, and none of them have behaved this way on the interstate.
    3. They checked out my truck and something IS wrong, it's the ECU which is making the truck unable to stick to a fucking gear at 70mph on D. They recently came out with a new ECU for the 3.5's because of the same exact issue, so your argument does not hold water. If the 6th gear cant handle its own weight + wind resistance at 70MPH, then the smart ECU shouldn't use that gear at that speed.

You don't really have a solid understanding of what I'm dealing with here, so why are you talking shit? A truck isn't supposed to go 4-5-6-4-5-6-4-5-6-4-5-6-4-5-6-4-5-6-4-5-6 on a flat road over the course of 2 minutes. Occasional downshifting here and there is acceptable, this isn't and it feels fucking dangerous! Especially when the engine revs up to 6k rpms and jerks me back into my seat

Next time I get on the interstate I will film everything. Maybe then you'll come to a realization that what I'm dealing with isn't normal.

I also want to add that I love this truck. I love the look, I love that it's tough as nails, and I love the color. But my baby don't act right on the interstate, and that's a big problem whether you want to admit it or not.

Why are you here? What are you trying to get out of this thread? Based upon your first post and title of the thread what are you really expecting? Why do you get mad at the Internet?
