Oh in case anyone is wondering, Wheelers sells the OME greasable shackles & the Wheelers branded greasable shackle kit that comes with bushings. But with the Wheelers kit you actually get the OME shackles. I needed new bushings also so I got the Wheelers kit.

@gearcruncher: I have to ask, what is that mangled, twisted, broken thingamabob in your hand. And this was broken from a 2010 Taco from towing what, A Sherman Tank.

Nope, Salisbury or Charlotte are the only options. I’ll take Salisbury traffic over Charlotte. Supposedly they’re putting one in down by Concord Mills in the old Crapplebees.

The pic in my Avatar is overheated gearing from a manual transmission in a front wheel drive honda 5 speed manual tranny .
I put that picture there in an attempt to keep Tacoma World members from towing in overdrive .
You can create the same problem with your trucks .
If you tow , stay out of overdive period !

Apparently the "newer" version on Amazon isn't that expensive. $220 shipped. https://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-AVH-...riusXM-Ready/dp/B017LKVCIK/ref=dp_ob_title_ce
I may FINALLY give in and buy one since I upgraded my speakers last spring and my stock stereo is struggling to push the non-paper cones.
I've been holding off because I really HATE BRIGHT FUCKING DANCE PARTY stereos at night when I usually use one of the best features of our 1st gen trucks - turning the dimmer all the way down turns off almost every light inside.

Oh, but I want CarPlay for when I finally make my own iOS navigation app that takes the best of GaiaGPS, PeakFinder, and other stuff that actually matters for non-Interstate traveling.

So, I attempted to adjust my coils after putting my bumper on. I applied penetrating oil to the adjusting nut two days before attempting and I didn’t get a budge out of it. And yes, i did compress the spring to take the stress off the nut first but it was still seized up. Toytec wants 300$ for the new shock with a reservoir BUT I think it’s time for some Kings or Icons instead of these POS.

    Yeah that ain't right.

Also don't over fill that part. You just need a bit to keep the slip yoke lubbed.

Modified my center console to accept my CB in place of the ash tray. Zipties and a Dremel for the win.

Benched the radio first, using a new factory-assembled cable to check SWR. It's absolutely flat- the needle barely moves (this is why I love Firestik antennas so much- they are "fat"). Seems as though the cheap connectors I bought were no value after all. I know I soldered them properly, but my SWR is over 5- WAY over 5- with them (and another, brand new, section of RG8). So I'll be ordering the good stuff I should have in the first place, again, and will reterminate all my connections. I should have known this. Amphenol or equivalent is the only way to go.

I've never had been able to get a very good lube job onto the splines without separating the halves and lubing the splines as so. It's been this way for the cruisers drive shafts so it's not a surprise taco driveshaft follows suit

Thought about it but seems risky since it holds the coil pressure

I used a heat gun on my buddies icons and it worked. It's not going to get hot enough for anything to fail.

Look into this guy as well. Not nearly as tacky and the red background ties in very nicely with the rest of the truck. Not sure mine dims with the light control but I'll check tonight. https://www.sony.com/electronics/in-car-receivers-players/xav-ax1000

Thanks for posting that. It looks pretty good. I'll do some research on it when I get home from work and see if there is any reason I can think that it's not a good fit.
