Click OP's Instagram links. He's obviously has high standards. Amazing quality photos if that is indeed his work. I think that's the disconnect here. He expects that quality in a reverse camera. Move on.

I don’t get why everyone is/was jumping on the op about wanting to upgrade his rear camera! Seriously wtf is everyone’s problem! Every damn one of us is upgrading something on our trucks PERIOD but for what if we go off of everyone’s attitude in this thread… the truck drives and gets the job done right? If you don’t like it stock then you should just get a different damn truck mentality. Gtfo here with that shit, come on guys. We ARE ALL on here to customize OUR trucks to OUR preferences! Just because you don’t find it necessary to upgrade something doesn’t mean it’s a meaningless upgrade for someone else!

I haven’t been here long at all but this vibe I see throughout the forum is getting kinda old already. It sucks cause it gets mixed in with all the helpful info available.

Note this wasn’t directed at any one person, it’s just something I had to say.

    First world problems...

What about just turning around? You know like the old days.
Not sure you could update much to get that much better of a picture. I can't see the camera being anything fancy to give better resolution

Could it be your vision is why it doesn't seem good enough?

Because my 2017 is not black and white...
Not trying to be a dick but if you find the resolution makes it hard for you to see it I side with @LivinOnEdge.

If your vision is that poor you shouldn't have a license.

Like you say turning around isn't good because of your vision... How the fuck is looking forward any different? If you can't see the maybe 15ft behind you you can't see 50ft down the road...

    Lots of sail boat fuel
Considering the other screen was clear to him , probably not.

OP unfortunately you might have to look into a head unit change unfortunately I would think. Unless the taps people do to add a camera could provide s higher resolution camera as an accessory.

Is it under all scenarios? Or lighting specific

Mine is great during the day. Resolution not nearly as good at night. But useable.

Majority of cameras connect via one cable. Forget the technical name for them but it's no different than an old PlayStation with the yellow white and red connector. The yellow being the video input. And it's what those add a camera thing use as well

In no way is it an HD connection, nor would the camera be anything high end.

Thinking like you said it could either be lighting or just the position of the screen creating a glare or something making the quality seem poor.

Don't know for certain but I cant see Honda or Subaru using something much better than what Toyota is using in terms of camera and head units.

Maybe it's lack of lighting at night? I did notice better picture after my led reverse lights being brighter.

Have you messed with the contrast/color settings? Mine were both set to minimum from the factory. Upped them both and it made a huge difference, especially at night.

This is after upping the settings and a pair of $14 auxbeam led lights off of Amazon. I can't complain.

That's where mines at. Went way up on the brightness. Up one on contrast.

Seems like every thread there's some dickhole telling you to buy a Ridgeline if you have anything negative to say about the Tacoma.
