From what I read it is. An output shaft swap requires disassembling basically the entire transmission. If you swapped a valve body it’s basically a bolt in affair (again, from what I’ve ready).

Someone else more knowledgeable about transmissions than me could chime in.

There was an Arsonist around here that was really adamant on burning all the local junkyards.

    The whole nine yards.

Guys say valve body swaps can be done but you should also calibrate the donor valve body at the same time .
This is not something I have done in the past . I have always swapped the output shaft .
With this being said , i cant speak from experience .
I have always fixed the original transmission

Yo @Sperrunner do you only do refrigeration stuff? I need a cold water valve or solenoid for my Kenmore washer and I don't know where to get it.

Thanks to @mechanicjon for the kick in the butt I actually did something productive today.

Damn headstock cover did not want to come off. Finally got it off & pulled the 2 spindle seals off. The damn things were installed backwards! Well as far as I have ever known shaft seals should be installed with the cup side towards the oil but in this case the shaft seals were installed backwards so the gear shaft can be installed easier without damaging the seals cause it slips into the seal from the oil side.

Well didn't get to finish cause it turns out the motor shaft seal is bad. Looks like it was damaged when the gearbox cover was installed. That one is not critical but it's pretty bad so I'll have to wait til tomorrow to see if I can find one locally or order it if I can't.

Really common on Honda's for MM to go bad. They have an open design that makes them idle soft but it causes them to tear easily

    Mill. Well technically it's considered a mill/drill.

Can be purchased on sears parts direct or call around your local appliance parts places and see if they have one

Perfect thanks. I ordered one just now. Looks super easy to replace which is nice. Poor old washing machine does a great job but the valve stopped letting cold in which makes rinse cycles useless haha.

Shouldn’t be to hard to replace.

Would you say a valve body swap is less involved than an output shaft and tail section swap?

Surprisingly, that site is way easy to navigate compared to sears' main site. Found a handle for an old craftsman box lickety split.
