Agreed, number 7 now and the way Toyota is taking them, I'm losing interest, power seats, new tailgate options it looks like in the future, etc. they are trying to please the market/keep up rather than what Toyota has been known for. I deep down sort of wished I kept my 15...but keep that a secret between you and me before everyone here throws a fit ;)

You may be right but if the plugs are different that would have to be addressed to convert them to those years I would think.

lol right, don’t let them hear you. But I am with you, understandably Toyota sees numbers of sales and not necessarily the wants of the enthusiast.

Wouldn’t be surprised if this new Tacoma is electric or some wierd mumbo jumbo

Lol please the market with power seats? My Dad's 03 Chevy Tahoe had fucking power seats. For a 2020 model truck with a nearly 40k price point it better have something. It's barely keeping up. No diesel option, just added leather option like a year ago.

1st gen Tacoma and 1st gen tundra were the pinnacle for toyota trucks- 2nd gen was really really good too. 3rd gen has an engine that belongs in a camry

Not talking about the power seat dude, I've recieved their intersections surveys for a few years now, they are looking at tailgate options similar to GM, not to mention all the gizmos' etc. like gopro mounts, LED headlights, etc. while as you alluded to moving away from what has made Tacoma, Tacoma, simple, reliable, dependable, and priced well.

Yeah, the squeaky clutch and weird ass over excessive revs will come standard.

Toyota manuals are such garbage, even in my manual is300, couldnt shift into 2,3,4 without a nice clunk and squeak.

Which is why that W58 became an r154.

If only I could swap Tacoma tranny’s for r154s... I’d probably buy a manual

Lots of members would probably disagree with the “manuals are garbage” comment. They all have quirks. The AT guys have it much worse than manual trucks. It’s a truck not an exotic race car.

The Tacoma is a truck, I wish it was like the 1st Gen just with a few updates. Those that want all the bells and whistle should go get a Denali, GMC, Silverado or even the F150/250 ... LOL!

I remember when my 1995 Toyota Pick up (not Tacoma) still had vinyl door panels and vinyl headliner. It’s called evolution. It’s evolution. You adapt and change or you join the do-do birds in the history books.

Hopefully it’s new LED headlights and a direct swap Apple CarPlay unit!

The 4Runner is old and overdue for some attention. But so is the Tundra. Sequoia and Land Cruiser and the Lexus body on frame SUVs. They are all older then the 4Runner. Toyota has a lot of work to do.

My 96 had a vinyl headliner and some on the door panels, I actually like it.

What’s sad is that my truck has way more soft touch materials on the door than a new Tacoma.

Maybe they'll add off-road oriented tires to the off-road oriented packages... :anonymous:
