So we have our whooooole taco covered in lava rock dust from the snow at mt bachelor.
Wanting to paint wheels and emblems.. but I’m scared to wash and risk scratching.
Do you think a good rinse down is okay to them off? It’s mud with tiny lava rock dust image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg that’s dried on

I would use a garden hose to wet it first then a high soap concentration to help pull the dirt off. Try and use as limited pressure of a wash not etc to remove it.

You want the soap and water to do all the work .

Rinsing with a pressure washer might help.

More soap will give better lubrication in dirt removal and not scuffing clear coat

Strong rinse before you go scrubbing with soap.

If you have one nearby take it to a coin op wand wash and give it a good spray to remove the lava rock dust and then wash it. Shouldn't risk getting too many scratches from the rock dust that way

Jet stream, wash with lots of suds and never use chamois. Use microfiber cloth at least 400gsm to dry. Don't get the cheap thin ones at discount parts store.

I got extremely interested in washing cars the right way when I purchased my WRX.

Follow this guy on YouTube... he’s a professional car detailer who works on million dollar sports cars. I owned my WRX for 2 years and didn’t have a single micro scratch on the paint.

Take it to a local coin car wash that has pressure washers to get most of it off. That’s what I’d do at least

    Work in progress...
I am in that sand and lava all the time. I rinse the truck off with the garden hose and then I wash the truck. I dry the truck and about every other time or so I use some spray turtle wax on it with a micro cloth. I am now saying it is the best or only way but that is how I geterdone.

:annoyed::rofl:I’ve already done that blonde moment—
i rinsed my ///M6 with a pressure washer after someone said they do it all the time. Yeah.. I had to spend a good $2600 just for new headlight computers after that. Not falling for that one again lmfao

    Haha! No.
Trust me, I'm super anal about washing and drying.
The 911 turbo has black paint and gets a lot TLC but the Tacoma the same. You don't need fancy stuff. Just need to be a little more careful on dark paint.
If need to use jet stream, on final rinse, let water just run down from top without high pressure.
Most scratches occur when you dry after wash. I go through 4 towels. You can get a batch of 6 or 8 good microfiber on Amazon . A friend of mine goes a little extreme by using a blower to blow off water.

depending on the preasure level its fine.

I use a 2100PSI washer with the middle orifice part. So its not that powerful but its enough to help get all the dirt off etc.
