I feel the residuals on these trucks are incredible considering what they go for on the used market. My residual after 5 years is approx. $18k CAD ($13.5K USD). Consider that I drive low mileage, around 12,000 kilometers (7500 miles) per year, at lease end I will have the option to buy a Tacoma TRD Sport with tech package with 60,000km (37,000 miles) for $18k CAD. You will never find anything remotely close to this on the used market plus since you're buying your own lease you know it's full service history and how it was driven and cared for.

Buyout seems really likely in my scenario unless I get an equally enticing deal trading it in.

This is why I leased my 4runner in 2016. 39 months of paying down vehicle ( people don't seem to realize your lease payments are coming off the price of the vehicle) at 0.9% then buying out for 3 years at say 5% worked out to be less cost of borrowing in the end than financing it at first over say 6 years at Toyota rates at the time of 5-6%. Food for thought
