Back in my days, Stripper, Catfish, in the delta and rivers,no problem. Just prefer the get away to tranquility. Hell, I'd almost be content to just tieing a rock to the end of the line and casting.

So about that modified exhaust law... Would that also apply to cutting it for axle dump?

I feel like I already know the answer, but if it does has anyone ever been cited for it?

There’s a lot of ways to finish exhaust. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anybody getting hassled for where their exit is located, whether that’s a turn down at the muffler or it’s split to take duals or otherwise.

Damn! I wish I could go fishing. The problem is that all I ever catch are fish sticks. Half of those take my lure every time.

On an other note I'm looking to buy a winch. Had one but it melted. Now need one for wife's T4R. She just got her new ARB bumper for Valentine's day. Looking for something rather inexpensive yet useable. I ain't doin Badlands style, that's just silly! If anyone is getting a new one or has a lead lemme know please.

There's this new-in-box Warn M8000 down in SB for $400, could try TW-Express:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/fs-warn-m8000-winch-brand-new-in-box.590011/

As an aside; I've had good luck with the Smittybilt XRC series thus far, and $300 for a name-brand 9500lb winch ain't too shabby either.

    https://www.amazon.com/Smittybilt-9...qid=1548858955&sr=8-3&keywords=smittybilt+xrc

I did swap out to synthetic line, saved about 50lbs lol...

I’m pretty sure as long as what you are doing with the exhaust doesn’t not affect the emissions of the vehicle you should be fine. An example would be removing the catalytic converter. Cutting and rerouting is not an issue. Rerouting would be an issue if it’s anythinf modified from the catalytic converter upwards towards the engine. An example would be a direct exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold to the side of the fender. This would be consider a bypass. If the exhaust system is CARB approved, usually will have a label with an EO# the manufacturer was issued by CARB. Loud exhaust would not mean a trip to the state referee, only if the emissions is altered. Now there are exhaust silencer thingys people can buy that attaches to the muffler tip to muffle or reduce the DB levels, those are acceptable as long as it is permaneny affixed such as a tap weld. Screw and bolt will not suffice. Realistly the muscle cars would probably draw more attention than SUV, Trucks, and off-roaders. But I’m pretty sure if a vehicle drive past any law enforcement and rev it up in a taunting way, that Individual would probably get an exhibition of speed violation versus a loud exhaust one. I talked to a state referee, he said the loud exhaust law has nothing to do with them and folks who are cited for it does not or should not be sent to a referee. Hope this gives more insight.

    27150.
    (a) Every motor vehicle subject to registration shall at all times be equipped with an adequate muffler in constant operation and properly maintained to prevent any excessive or unusual noise, and no muffler or exhaust system shall be equipped with a cutout, bypass, or similar device.

    (b) Except as provided in Division 16.5 (commencing with Section 38000) with respect to off-highway motor vehicles subject to identification, every passenger vehicle operated off the highways shall at all times be equipped with an adequate muffler in constant operation and properly maintained so as to meet the requirements of Article 2.5 (commencing with Section 27200), and no muffler or exhaust system shall be equipped with a cutout, bypass, or similar device.

    (c) The provisions of subdivision (b) shall not be applicable to passenger vehicles being operated off the highways in an organized racing or competitive event conducted under the auspices of a recognized sanctioning body or by permit issued by the local governmental authority having jurisdiction.

    27151.
    (a) No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the motor of the vehicle so that the vehicle is not in compliance with the provisions of Section 27150 or exceeds the noise limits established for the type of vehicle in Article 2.5 (commencing with Section 27200). No person shall operate a motor vehicle with an exhaust system so modified.

    (b) For the purposes of exhaust systems installed on motor vehicles with a manufacturer’s gross vehicle weight rating of less than 6,000 pounds, other than motorcycles, a sound level of 95 dbA or less, when tested in accordance with Society of Automotive Engineers Standard J1169 May 1998, complies with this section. Motor vehicle exhaust systems or parts thereof include, but are not limited to, nonoriginal exhaust equipment.

...assuming it doesn't result in the noise being louder than 95dbA.
AFAIK, they're supposed to read the sound rating at 2,500RPMs.

Yup, pretty much same law, just no longer a correctable. I honestly believe the illegal side shows and street racing pretty much ruined it for all.

    <IMHO>
The problem now is that it's an income generator...
Although the law is the same, the $1k infraction cost will be motivation for it to be enforced much more.

I am curious though...as I don’t know how legislation work..is this a law folks vote for or does it just gets put into law cause a lawmaker just writes it up?
