I love it. A buddy and I went ice fishing last evening. I caught 2 rainbows, he caught his limit of 5 rainbows. And no we were not in an ice shack either. Standing on the ice braving the elements jigging for trout. Can't beat it!

I remember that too, dunno the exact year any more.
Here in south central PA, it was under -20 for a few days.

One of those days I went out for some late season small game hunting. Grouse and squirrels.
Just because I was young(er) and tough (so I thought :p), and to experience it.
I bundled up as well as I could.

There was almost no wind, and a foot of snow, so it was dead silent.
Except for the eerie sound of trees murmuring and creaking and freezing and suddenly giving way with sounds like gunshots. It's startling.
Didn't see any living thing except trees. And the life in them had retreated to their roots.

The cold was no kidding painful. Not just on the face, though I had a balaclava over my head.
The cold was piercing, starting with the extremities.
First my hands and feet hurt, a lot, then started to go numb.
I got the Hell out of there, and by the time I got in my truck, felt pleasantly warm.
Which I knew enough to recognize as a danger sign.
    Thank goodness it started.

So, it was an experience, and I'm glad I did it. But I'll never do it again.
I found out I'm not tough enough to be a Canadian or Alaskan.

It’s always a good sign of the cold when your nose hairs instantly freeze and it hurts to breathe!

Last year when I was living in Anchorage we had a week straight of negative temps and I did not have a garage. The move was plug in the block heater overnight and then start/run the truck for a half hour before I left for work in the morning. I'd also pump the clutch a few times while in neutral to get it to move without feeling like I was stepping through ice cream.

Or if you really want to roll the dice do what the north slope guys do and just never shut your truck off. :fingerscrossed:

Not bad downstate Illinois. 6:30am -2 with -27 windchill. NW wind at 25mph gusting to 35mph.

I can feel the cold air coming in around the windows here in the projects.

I have my 1500 gr insulated hunting boots, insulated pants I can throw over my jeans, my parka, long johns, hat, scarf, gloves Etc in my truck in case I ever break down.

Other than that I don’t do much outside of trying to keep a full tank of gas for the truck.

If I lived in Canada or colder areas I would be running a lighter weight oil.

-22 isn’t a whole lot to be concerned about for a vehicle.

Your clutch won't work very good until it warms up. It will feel frozen

20190130_065603.jpg It honestly doesn't feel any colder than yesterday (-12ish). Truck started okay, just a little struggle.

It is 21 outside right now in northwest Indiana close to Chicago Illinois. I went out on the back deck to mark the coldest temperature I have seen in my life. I came back in pretty quick since I only had socks on my feet.

I assume you're not talking about wind chill, correct? We're at -57 if you factor that in currently
