Wow, so a local guy that swears he has RF just done the road from me doesn’t have it, unless this is not accurate.

    UAH, js...

    Fully understand though.

Now back on topic, are you happy with the tires now?

My Terra Grapplers are noisy and have poor wet road traction.

Anyone out there running these in a P265/65-17 size? I see they are listed as XL (6ply) on the website. I am leaning towards going up to a 265/70 but staying 265/65 would like to keep the tires lighter and the 6ply vs 4ply is appealing as well.

OK, then that makes more sense. If I had just looked at your sig I would have realized you were not in a Tacoma. In my defense, it is a Tacoma site so assuming your DD was a Tacoma was..... well whatever.

No worries. My DD used to be a Tacoma, and one of the work trucks in my fleet is a 2013 Tacoma, so I still hang around here.

So I went in to DT tonight, the store manager is really good. He said after the RF conversation he got to doing some research. He said their training material actually says the quick match machines are road force machines. Reason that's why everyone and their momma kept preaching that to me, even DM. Anyway, being confused, he called his Hunter rep and they informed him of the difference and that their machines were not RF. He was surprised that's in their info and said he informed his employees to quit touting RF. I suggested he point that out to corporate, as I did the district manager. Still crazy none of them knew this and it took a Tacoma shade tree mechanic to inform them, lol. They've been open 3 years, thought they were newer than that.

Anyway, he talked me into trying some GY Ultraterrains. Basically little less aggressive Duratracs. With the rebates and discount he gave me, they were actually a couple dollars less than Falkens. He also agreed to hold on to the Falkens a week or two if I wanted to go back.

No pulsing vibration with the GY's in 30 miles, but because a little more aggressive tread or maybe harder rubber, you feel the road more and tread lugs at low speed. Falkens have a more supple ride. If it wasn't for the pulsing vibration, I'd prefer the Falkens. Honestly they may have gotten rid of it with a RF balance, but he talked me into trying the GY's. Still first day on them, so we'll see.

This is good to hear and kind of what I figured. Honestly, a really good guy down the road from me that owns one of the local tire shops said the same thing but doesn’t show up on Hunter’s website as having a RF machine. I don’t think many of them know.

Glad you like the GYs, I’ve had great service from mine over the years. I’m going on almost 4 months of still not mounting my Rays and Falken because my truck has so many issues.

FWIW, my local Costco did literally a perfect job mounting and balancing my Kumho tires for my GTI. They ride and handle far better than the stock Pirellis. I’ve also always had good luck with Kumho and have yet to have a balance issue with them and @Discount Tire Direct beat everyone’s price on them.

Again, glad everything is taken care of!

One thing i just noticed, he charged me $32.50 for each tire certificate, for $130 total. On my Falkens, they only charged me $18.50 per tire. Doesn't $32.50 seem excessive? There was only $25 difference in the price of the each tire. Wondering if that was typo?

That seems high and they have wiggle room on those prices too. I had a guy give me a free cert on one tire.

    ok.. quick question.

    What's the difference between the 265/75R16 A/T3W and the LT265/75R16 A/T3W.......?

From what I understand, the LT is an E-rated tire that's obviously heavier, and more expensive, and my local shop wants $144 a tire.
If I go with the regular 265/75R16 they're only $116 a pop. And according to sites online, they're only like 46 lbs each.

What to do what to do. It's either these, or some BFG KO2, which will replace my Nitto Terra Grappler D-rated tires... Well, or some DuraTrac C-rated.

If you need to haul go for the LT. If it’s mostly pavement go regular. Softer ride. Can’t go wrong with either one though.
