What an utter waste of bandwidth! I am so fucking jealous. Looks like the real balls belong to the Vegas boys. I can't get these low Cal pussies to get out to Ocotillo Wells for some bashing, because "it's too hot". San Diegans are so fucking soft. That's why they've never won a Super Bowl or a World Series.

Looking at the terrain reminds me of wheeling out there in the mid 80's for the Mint 400. I remember getting a flat out there pre running the course, and Corky McMillan got out of his pre runner and helped me beat the shit out of my rim so that it would seat with air. It worked and we continued on.

Las Vegas has some of the best high speed and technical (not to mention dusty) off roading on the planet. Is this the type of wheeling that will be going on with the Primm run? If so, count me in and I'll bring my '89 out to play with the boys with the "real balls".

I just wanted to take time to mess with the San Diego locals. I love gettin' in their grills. They dish it out and take it equally well. The only problem with Ocotillo is that it's a 2 hour drive each way to get out there, and it's really fucking hot now. But the off roading out there is incredible, and you're not very far from El Centro.

it was really soft sand. not even me or daniels truck could handle it. i think cuz the tires. too chunky so it digs out the sand. plus terrys got no locker, n he was driving with the trac on. so everytime he'd gun it n wheel slip, the abs would fire like crazy! then after the whole day, i had to help yank him out -again, one of the times - n i found the switch n turned trac off. got a little better traction. didnt help that his clutch felt like it was slipping. but we got him out eventually. we got to the highway about 830pm. was no sun left.

I've been out to Apex and never encountered sand that we couldn't get through :notsure:. Sounds more like you guys didn't know how to properly get through the sand or out of it once you were stuck...you never "gun it" in sand. An air compressor would have been a nice thing to have . Airing down isn't only for the sand.
We have a Chevy Duramax with 33" mudders on it, it can get through sand with those chunky tires and that heavy a$$ truck, it's all about proper technique.
There are a couple threads on here with tips on driving in sand, they might help you guys out if you plan to head to Apex or Amargosa. The sand trails in Gosa are like quick sand, they will swallow you up before you realize it.

Compact sand at the dunes??? I don't guess you have ever been to any real sand dunes then ;). You try to walk in it and it sucks your feet in all the way past your ankles.

I go to Dumont, Gosa Coral Pink, etc. I had a 97 Chevy 1500 with a 6" lift and 35's, never had an issue.
