A LOT of Osram bulbs are shipped from China which I'm trying to avoid . I found one in UK that has the Osram p43t All Season bulbs 85/80. About 59. shipped isnt bad for 2.
I need to update my other car that has H4 using Raybrig housing.
Any other I should consider that isn't over 100w ??
Not concerned about high beam which is never used but important is the light distribution.

The 85/80w All Seasons are going to have the best output with extended projection for low beam. The standard 90/100w will have whiter output but not extend distance projection. As far as stock wattage without regard to high beam the GE +130 H4 is likely the best. Another one to consider is the All Season Super H4, which while labeled as a 60/55w bulb, but is actually a 75/68w bulb (per max tolerance allowed in a 60/55w bulb to be legal in Europe). I'll be doing more scientific testing in the near future for the H4s to have data backed recommendations so you guys can see the numbers.

This just arrived today, I am super excited to read it. One of the PhD authors was the head of Hella’s R&D.

Just flipping through a few pages, ever wonder why Volvo and some others have those huge taillights that seem to contour the entire rear of the vehicle? According to science people can recognize shapes within 100ms as they are processed earlier in visual recognition, but it takes 400ms to process color. In low contrast/foggy conditions, body contoured taillights will speed human data processing and decrease reaction times reducing the chance of an accident. Science for the win.

Leave it to Volvo! I wonder what science says about blacked out tail lights? Oh wait, let me guess ...

    @wdb
... or more thoughtful drivers that aren't texting and driving...

BTW- I LOVE what I once learned of Japan's perspective: Once you are a licensed driver in Japan, you are considered a professional. My understanding is that in Japan, lame excuses, ignorance of traffic rules/laws, not having snow tires on, not having your car mechanically sound... NONE Of that b/s flies in court. You are a professional and expected to drive as such or suffer the consequences.

Wish that were the case here. It is far too easy for any IDIOT to get a license and to then drive like one.

Some countries also make you learn accident avoidance maneuvers as part of getting your licence, such as Sweden's Risk 2 driving education.

    Hey Crash,

Have you tested any 7443 led bulbs?
I'm looking in Amazon UK for an alternative.
Looking at other Tacoma brake lights, they're not very bright.

Seeing what is out there in terms of brightness.
Almost all shows what looks like at night. None shows what looks like at daytime where it matters.
Most leds are far less performing at daytime than incandescent bulbs.

The obvious question is what are you trying to solve by using LEDs?

Quality German LL incandescent bulbs will last longer than many Chinese LED ones and illuminate the housing better as they have omni-directional light, which the housing was designed for. The lower power draw really isn’t a benifit in this case. So what is the attraction?

The reason many LEDs do not do well in the day time is they are facing outward to project light, but trying to project light outward in daylight is like trying to signal someone with a flashlight during the day. The overwhelming amount of daylight easily washes out whatever the LED will produce. You want to face inward toward the reflector to illuminate the entire housing and lens, not outward to project light. Projecting light outward may look superbright at night and make for great advertising shots, but it isn’t actually a good thing, it doesn’t fully illuminate the housing. Even ones that project inward like Philips don’t match the uniform performance of the incandescent which not only simultaneously uniformity illuminates inward toward the reflector, it also projects light outward in all directions.

Despite being offered several free LED signal and brake light products, I keep all mine stock.

Not necessarily LED, but brighter daytime bulbs.

I'll look into european bulbs or if there is such a thing as higher wattage 7443. Yea, I stay away from any Chinese bulbs.

I didn’t realize they upgraded the 3rd gen taillights! That explains why I was so confused. I keep toying with the idea of swapping my LED tails for early 2nd units.

Holy moly the upgraded harness is no joke, it’s got some weight to it and it’s pure beef. Ridiculously easy to install. The bulbs came in early so I had them in already. Took less than 10 minutes to put it in. Waiting for darkness to fall and go run up a dark road to see the light improvement. Thanks @crashnburn80

The Headlight Services harness is legit. What bulbs did you go with? Let us know your thoughts after trying it out.
