I used to work on this boat for a few seasons. I only saw one Great White and it was attacking a seal on the surface. Still pretty cool.
If it weren't so expensive I'd say it's worth a day on the water and the things you learn along the way.

I did do one dive outside the cage...not sure I'd do that again.

I've heard the Guadalupe Islands trip in Mexico is absolutely amazing. They can chum down there and the vis is much much better so you're almost guaranteed to see sharks. The downside is it's $3800.

My LS with 2 high flow cats smells no worse than my other LS with its 3 stock cats that have 200k on them and also passed smog 2 weeks ago.

Noise wise, well...my exhaust is a mile long so I have plenty of space for additional mufflers and resonators. Either way, I’m more into tone not volume.

 

I have family that works at the CARB and can verify that she is neither a Nazi, nor a dickhead...

I also appreciate being able to breathe clean air.

 

Go visit Hong Kong. Year round the sky is never visible. I would hope it never gets that bad over here.

 

Thought this was amusing. I'm sure some of you have seen it.

 

I think the main reason for this is the latest trend of straight pipes. When I got my relocation done they did 3 straight pipes one was a f'ing humvee. Sounded loud as fuck. The shop had to tell at the guy to leave as he was you tuning the rap rap in the parking lot.
Straight dumb as fuck.

 

People young at heart have always wanted maximum volume. Tough times we live in so why spend money on mufflers when you can just run none?

Edit - the first time I bought my LS to gets its exhaust done I asked if he’s ever done one on these cars before. None. Months later I went back and he mentioned he worked on a few but they were all younger kids wanting straight pipes. He says it doesn’t make sense. It’s a luxury car, so it making that kind of noise is just weird.

 

I have wanted to do this for a long time. I just cant stomach spending $800 and not seeing a shark.

 

It's kinda not worth it. I think 2% of trips see a shark. You're in the cage for like 10% of each trip.

It would be more cost effective to get a Divemaster cert and work on the boat. That's even with the liability insurance which keeps going up and up...which is one of the reasons I stopped being a DM. With insurance, if you're not "working" (it's not really work to me) all the time, you're paying someone else to work. If your plan is to be an instructor it kinda works out.
