similar reactions happen when I drive an 05 Jetta then switch to an Offroad driven 17 tacoma..

it comes up a lot with, how can you afford to take a 40k truck offroad, my reply should be "you gotta add a few more thousand to it to get it ready" lol

 

I like the friends I had before people knew I drove a Vette much better than the ones that tried to be after

 

i'm very introvert. I'll talk to anyone and be friendly of course that ask me about the truck, but i find myself bringing up conversation about the junker 05 jetta because it's more rare, but people don't care and want to talk about the expensive truck, not a diesel car..

I don't hangout with anyone that much though. Honestly, besides my GF and family, the group i hangout with from this forum is about it.

most of the friends I have would go out of there way for me, and i would for them, but they would rather just go to a small get together and drink, fish, or hunt.

when I'm free not working I want to, offroad, mtn bike, ride dirtbikes.

low range offroad offers the best rebuild kit, it's about 300.. they even did a great video series rebuilding it.

oh upgrade to the v6 calipers while you have it apart, then move the front calipers to the rear. there's writeups for all of this.

This is a first for me. Had a TW member from Hawaii message me about building a bed mounted tire carrier for their truck and shipping it to them. That'd be something having stuff I built rolling around Hawaii...

With the Decked system you could just tie it down flat and still be able to use your bed.

 

correct, that's about the only option. might would consider some sort of bumper swing arm at that point just to save the space. who knows? my mind is always changing ideas about the truck, but for now...house stuff.

 

Same here. It's what I miss about my old Forenza that died. Total POS that nobody cared about. Now I have to field questions about the truck I bought because I didn't want to have to buy another for as long as humanly possible with a side of off-roading. Though I didn't care to talk about the forenza that much either- it was exceptionally unexceptional in all aspects that mattered.

Besides family though, dirt riding folks from college are about the only group I hang out with regularly these days..
