I don't think that is how I would do it but I like it!!!
I use my bed to much for normal truck stuff.

 

Pull the spare out and throw a piece of plywood over the hole.

I have a normal truck for normal truck stuff though

I prefer the tailgate mount mostly because I need the bed space. I like the look too, I just don't like that it blocks the rear view a bit. I'm hoping to build mine when I do a rear bumper.

Yours look really well done and a great way to do it for a rig like yours.

 

Not yet. Looking thru your pirate thread and you already cover most of what I was wondering, mainly about the driveline angle with the offset carrier. I still daily my truck and want to keep it that way so I wanted to see if there were any problems with the angle cruising at highway speeds.

 

It was roughly -40 here with windchill, truck started right up with one crank as well. Didn't sound like a diesel though lol. Only took maybe 15 minutes to warm up to normal operating temp.

 

It warmed up to 150° in about 20 min but even after an hour of driving around town mine only warmed up to 180°F. I usually run just over 200°, on hot days it will get up to ~215° (might be time for a radiator...)

What was your actual temp? That makes a bigger difference to the truck than windchill temp.

 

Probably. Might be time for him to think about a block or pan heater for those temps.

 

Maybe, as it started the RPMs stayed really low at first and sounded like it was missing intermittently. Within 30-45 seconds it was running smooth, all be it with a lot of power steering whine. That took a few minutes to quiet down. Anything above 0° I don't get any power steering whine.

 

You might want to look into a synthetic fluid for better cold pumping.

 

Replaced the "I refuse to retract" 17 yr old seat belt. Good riddance....

 

where did you get your replacement from. My 2003 TRD driver side has been slammed in the door frame so many times it has a hole in it. Usually I just get pissed of and throw it back into the truck and close the door.

 

Where'd you get the replacement and what did it run you? I am thinking about sending mine out for rebuild, but that will be problematic as it's now my DD.

 

I didn't feel like trying the bucket of soapy water or sending it out for rebuild either. I ordered from Camelback Toyota (@gunny1005). Pricey but considering its a safety component, well worth it. About $196. Reach out to gunny if you are going to replace it, he'll square you away and make sure the right part # is ordered.

 

My truck had this issue when I bought it. Here's the $3 fix:

1. Go to the self-service car wash
2. Open door
3. Pull seatbelt all the way out
4. Move seatbelt out out the open doorway and hold towards the rear of the truck.
5. Close door onto seatbelt (don't be dumb - make sure you aren't shutting it into the latch)
6. Spray seatbelt with RINSE (no soap, no wax, none of that shit)
7. Once it is clean (no more dirt, french fry grease, makeup embedded) you're done with the seatbelt.
8. Hand clean the plastic piece above your shoulder where the seat belt goes through to remove all the build up there.
9. Quickly get home, extend the seatbelt fully and clamp it so it doesn't retract.
10. Once fully dry, you're done.

 

I've also used the soapy water wash bucket trick. Unfortunately, in my case, the belt itself has some shredding. It's time it was rebelted

Good plan.This reminds me, I need to see if Dexron6 is a compatible fluid for our PS systems.
