Yeah there is a penalty to FPS with g-sync but it can be brute forced with enough hardware lol. I get dizzy at low refresh rates in some games so I need to push high frame rates on my g-sync panel for mostly that reason.

My first comp was a Packard Bell 100MHz with 8MB RAM and a 1GB hard drive. It didnt even have the turbo button to make it 133MHz :(
When I played doom i had to install, play, then uninstall cause it used up what was left of the hard drive.

And here I feel old playing flight simulator 98 when I was very young, growing up with XP on what I’m sure was a single core processor.

Recently cleaning out my grandparents attic after my grandpa passed I found a working Tandy 1000.

I had the one with the turbo boost. Love that computer. Had a macintosh before that.

LOL yeah my parents had an Intel 486 at 33 MHz with the 66 MHz boost. Then they had a 166 MHz P1. Finally they bought my brother and I our own computer for work and play, which was a P2 which is the PC I was describing above. I just remember between the soundblaster, 3D, 2D, and 56k modem cards there was no slots left on that beast lol. My brother and I worked at my dads business 20 hours a week as kids to earn that computer but it was badass for the time.

I also remember how the P2 was on a separate board with its own slot because Intel did that for a while. Took up a ton of room in the case so the box always ran hot, but back then components didn’t mind the heat as much as long as they didn’t overheat.

My first PC an IBM 286 @ 12Mhz, 1MB of ram, and a 10 MB HDD. It ran MS DOS 6.22 and Win 3.1. I had games like Commander Keen and Carmen San Diego. I think I had more fun with DOS programs/games than anything for Win 3.1, besides MS Paint

Does anyone remember the early days of DirectX and how glitchy it was? How games would install their version of DirectX each time just to make sure they worked at all lol.

I still have games that install DX when you install them.

Yeah but now it’s usually packages that just ensure compatibility all the way back to DirectX 9.0c. I’m talking back when the entire API was on the game disc lol.

What timeframe is that tech? I’m not familiar with API.
Oregon Trail and Carmen San Diego still want to install Dx 9.0 when I load them.
I’m actually surprised they run on Windows 10 with some of the compatibility issues I’ve had.
