    My third gen definitely goes better than my second. A bit slower off the line, but the more I drive the more I feel like that's bad throttle mapping in the beginning stages of input. Third gen is much better on the highway.

    More than 2000. I felt like it returned its old ways but I went up some maintains to test that, and it still went uphill better than pre-tsb.

    I don't agree that it's relearned

    after 1k miles on a 3rd gen, it is DEFINITLY slower than the 2nd gen. it's not even close. rolling on the throttle in third gear at 35 mph and you don't move.

    I say the only way to prove this is to test it from a stop and from a roll in an enclosed area (not main road) and we will see just how much “faster” the 2nd gen is from a 3rd gen. I’ve owned both and I don’t agree. Why don’t you find a buddy with a 2nd gen and show us all which is quicker?

    A lot of times when you test drive a vehicle that's been in the lot with a couple gallons of fuel in the tank for over a month will be a subpar performer. But put fresh fuel in it, and it might surprise you

    This was probably due to the after market intake, a previous car I owned had the same issue with a K&N

    No need, the (performance) change is immediate if you fill the tank from a few gallons to full. Refer to post #70 & 71. The K&N filter can contain oil which can make its way to the maf sensor and screw it up.

    You could try and clean it with TOYOTA approved maf sensor cleaner, but I would also go back to OEM setup and make sure the air filter hose clamps are good & tight.

    my 2nd gen had the K and N and it was much faster. and yes, I did clean the MAF and throttle body at 85k miles, but it really didn't need it or change anything.

    unless you've driven both in manual transmission, it's really hard to compare the two. trust me, the 2nd gen was a stronger engine. It was also smoother when you went wide open throttle lower in the power band, instead of shifting down.

    I feel like my 2nd gen 4 cylinder had more juice in the low rpms, but I can’t complain about my 3rd gen 6 cylinder once it hits 3k rpms. It will move and is plenty strong enough IMO.

    i'm not testing 0-60. i'm not testing the top of the power bands. i'm testing hitting the gas in 3rd gear at 2500 rmp and one truck is way slower.

    why bother testing quarter mile engine characteristics you'll never use?
