    My thoughts exactly.

It’s -20 right now in the LaCrosse area and dropping. Forecast is -34 tonight.

I didn’t do anything I don’t do normally for the truck this morning and it started with only slight protest. I let it run for the last half an hour of my shift and it was fine. The roads felt strange... they appeared dry, walking on them was fine. But, I felt like I had no traction when starting from a stop or when turning.

Was showing -21 at one point before I got home tonight. Gonna be 39° come Saturday so that will be car wash day for sure!

Roads are ok; your tires are getting so hard they can’t grip. Are you running snow tires?

For most AT and all seasons it’s between 15 and 0. But you may only have 30% of normal at 32. At these temperatures you have about the same coefficient of friction as a steel train wheel.

Not running snow tires. My stock ATs did great last winter, but we rarely got below zero and my commute was 50% dirt roads. This year... mostly highway and this shit WX we are having.

Cooper ST Maxx remain usable even in extreme cold. Not as good as studded snow tires but still very driveable.

Depends on the rubber compound and somewhat how soft it is, in general softer being worse. The treadwear rating on the tire sort of represents its firmness. Snow tires, like The Blizzak, advertises their compound stays legit in the coldest temps, what that temp is...good question.

in the early 90's in Pittsburgh, it was around -20 with wind chills in the low -40's, now i am in NC and its around 30 now and going up to around 42 today, i miss the north but not the cold, just the snow for hunting.

That -23 that I experienced was in Pittsburgh too, I would not mind being a snowbird sometime and spend winter down South.

    Yeah, seems to be natural.
Each Winter I'm more and more wanting to escape. :p
Now that I'm retired I'm getting serious about it.
Thinking about a tow package and a little Jayco Swift.

My folks retired to Florida and missed the seasons.
Two seasons there: Dry and Wet (otherwise known as hurricane season).
So they moved back halfway to South Carolina.

Anyway, it got down to 1F last night here.
It's supposed to get to 61F on Tuesday.
    Crazy. :goingcrazy:

Man I'm really missing the heated windshield wiper area on the Subaru I drove for the last 4 winters! These Tacoma wipers ice over way too fast & easy!

Got tired of snow and negative temps but didn't get far enough south, in the teens last night and high in the 20s today. But -20 or worse, you guys can keep it!

Here is a challenge for the brave men of the North...Who's the first to jump in a pool now?
Talking about extreme temps, when 120F in Phoenix I jumped in the pool...
