It takes a specific key that the dealers typically have, but I would call a tech to verify they have it before driving over. You never installed glass did you?

    No just a snorkel.
But I’m swapping it to a buddy’s truck before it sells an I couldn’t figure out how to get it off.

You could take a small Dremel and slowly cut it. That's what we did when I threw on my glass since the local dealer didn't have their key.

Holy crap man. That looks awesome! How much do you have into it - it looks like you've basically rebuilt it! I'm in the middle of a horse trailer living quarter remodel myself......my own personal hell.

Thanks. Im not sure of the dollar amount, I have the receipts but haven't tallied, a few thousand total. The real kicker is the sweat equity, probably 400-500 hours of labor. Ive done literally everything myself, including upholstery, except for the welding required to put it back together after the shortening. This is the third one Ive done and by far the most intense.

Same camper just a few months ago.

    Shit man that's amazing.

With the horse trailer I had to run whole new electrical, redid plumbing and replaced a bunch of rotten floor. Nowhere near being finished but I'm shooting to be done hopefully by July.

Ive got a build thread for it over on expedition portal. There might not be anything horse trailer specific over there but there are so many smart people with experience working on stuff like this, you can probably find a lot of good info there. Its where I go for most of my info/learning about 12v systems, propane, travel related living spaces etc. I have a 3 way fridge, electric water pump, propane furnace and other stuff that I never could have figured out how to make work if it wasn't for that site. Its so much fun doing a project like this and seeing it all come together after so much blood, sweat and cursing.

Yeah we have a 3 gpm 55 psi pump wired in, led lighting and the fridge is on order.

I just built the base for the shower pan and some of the cabinets to get them up to sink height last weekend.

I’ll definitely go check out expedition portal for inspiration.

Yep same here. A couple of buddies are thinking of competing but I'm just there to day drink and ride around I think.

Just a bunch of old crap
I'm still here. Recovery still going well with lots of PT and OT. I'm off the cane now and walking with no assistance and getting better. Just got my Alu-Cab Gen 3 tent delivered to my paint guy to color match it to my truck, then I'll put the new awning on it. Gonna be done in about 2 weeks. Looking forward to getting it all ready for some late winter camping and getting back outdoors. Gotta get some more hiking in as my balance continues to improve.

Congratulations on on losing the cane. Little things like that make a huge differance in morale. I'm not jist getting ready to start my Physical torture. Prosthetic leg is like learning to walk all over.

I know this is a long shot, but anyone in AZ headed to the Santa Barbara area anytime soon and have an open bed? I'm trying to pick up a 4WC from someone but they aren't willing to meet so I figured if I can get it to AZ I could make the 14ish hour drive to grab it as opposed to the 20 something hour drive. Let me know! Thanks

Im guessing 4WC means Four Wheel Camper? Im driving to Thousand Oaks on Sunday, will be there all week and will return next weekend, Feb 8, 9 or 10. I was planning to bring my personal four wheel camper and camp that weekend but I could be convinced to help you instead. I can keep it at my house until you can get to AZ also. PM me and we can chat about details.

Expedition Portal is a dangerous place even for non expo people.

I can’t tell you how many times I have gone over there and then been like... “maybe I should get a RTT”

Currently though what got me on the edge of diving into a rabbit hole is the talk of dual batteries, one lead acid and one lithium ion. I’m kinda spitballing this idea of having a standard battery but sizing down to group 51r and then adding a (not as expensive) small Lithium cell such that you could have what amounts to a very long lived single 27f or 31... haven’t done much research but it’s an idea rolling around in my head waiting for some spare time to see if the idea holds any water.
