Ok Don't Hate I looked and couldn't find the answer that I needed if I missed it sorry.

Im looking at putting bilstein 5100 shocks front and rear to help level that truck out.

Here is the question I have a V6 trd off road double cab long bed 4x4. According to bilsteins site it has the setting on the snap rings and on the 5th clip setting it says"
    Settings:

    1st clip = 0″ (stock)
    2nd clip = 0.65″
    3rd clip = 1.1″
    4th clip = 1.55″
    5th clip = 2″ (5th notch not recommended for 4×4 V6/4cyl Access Cab or 4×2 V6 Double Cab 6′ bed)"

If i wanted could i go to that 5th clip with out messing up the truck.

    Thanks sorry so long

Looks like you're good but don't trust me, message @HeadStrong Off-Road or someone else more qualified than me to give you a definite answer.

I would take Bilsteins word for it.

Get a taller coil and let that do the lifting.

I wouldn’t go beyond 3rd because stock springs will be preloaded and beyond that it’ll be like riding on wood wagon wheels. Like said if you want a comfortable ride get longer coils to absorb most of the weight. For street use, I think the stock coils are fine.

So how do the different coils factor in this?
(OP) ...Did the chart you referred to for the settings indicate using stock springs? I'm in this to learn for future reference.

For the time being, it's fully functioning.

    :woot:
I used to try and help out in these threads a lot more. But since everybody else has done such a great job, I've been slacking!

Back to it...OP, don't cheap out on the lift. Save up and do it once!

Agreed! There's nothing worse than paying for something twice. Do your research and hit the bank once, not twice

Also, considering it's about $180 for two front coils it's well worth the investment. I got the 888 coils and got exactly 3 inches of lift out of them. No regerts

Im on the 4 th perch and a one inch block in the rear, my dclb sport rides and handles better than the stock sport suspension. Bilstein designed this to work with the factory coils. The 1st setting will ride the same as the 4th setting. I'm using the stock uca, did the shim for the taco lean and ecgs bushing. Ride again is awesome, drove one on new coils and aal. I felt no difference in the ride quality, however that truck was on 285s where i run 265/70/17 toyo at2 SL on some trd sema wheels. I think adding new coils is ok but not necessary. I'm very happy and glad I did the 5100s. I have a slight rake. The bottom pic is the day i did the lift, tires and wheels. Little incline on the driveway.IMG_20190101_121203445_HDR.jpg IMG_20181009_181855269_HDR.jpg

I run mine at notch 4, had a good little lift but now that I’ve added weight up front it rides almost stock height. A guy at my job put his in the 5th notch for a day and his control arm got stuck under a coil of the spring.... and it was all goofy looking because the front was so damn high. Go 4th notch and 1.5” in the back if you want the cheapest/most affordable “decent” option.

Picture is stock coils 4th notch, 1.5” block out back.

1.55" 4 notch setting rides fine to me. Talking from personal experience, however, I could understand if someone else didn't like the ride. bigger tires help a little, I'm assuming, with the cushy-ness.
