Pioneer Avic Z2 navigation with ipod and bluetooth, K&N 77 Series intake, DT Headers, Flowmaster 50 exhaust, All Weather Mats, Fog Light Mod, Debadged, 20% tint all around, custom blue dome, maps, steering wheel, shifter lights, and cluster, Midland CB with PA, XD Series Revolvers wrapped in BFG AT's, black mesh grillcraft grill
So my good friend just recently got in a car accident and his tacoma was considered totaled. Its about to go to the junk yard, but he told me that I could take off whatever parts I wanted for my truck. He has a 2009 trd and the first thing that came to mind was the review camera. I already have a pioneer navigation so i dont need the special review mirror, but is there any way I can somehow take out just the camera and wiring off of his truck and install it onto my 2007?

Calm down vultures, I don't think he's selling parts of his buddies truck. As far as the camera, it will not work. The 07 wiring is not set up at all for the camera. How is it going to a junkyard? Did the insurance pay him for it? If so, he can get in trouble for removing parts after they gave him a price.

I just put a camera mirror in my '09- They come with all the harnesses pre-wired for the camera system.

As the previous post mentioned, it won't work in models earlier than '09 since they don't have the harness.

If you wanted to go to the trouble of running a harness to your nav system, you might be able to use the factory tailgate and camera.

Probably be easier to buy an aftermarket camera kit with harness included.

You may be able to do the camera setup, I have heard that camera uses 6v instead of 12v, but you could pull the camera, tailgate handle and harness that runs up to the drivers side kickplate and then figure a way to hook up power and video, the mirror is where I think it gets the 6v from, I don't know for sure just what I have researched on here. But let us know if parts are being stripped, would be nice to get some.

yes, there will have to be some custom wiring on your part as it wont be PNP...but thats exactly what i am doing and others have done. i picked up the OEM camera and plan on wiring it to either an aftermarket HU, or to a rear view mirror w/ monitor. i sent you a PM as well...

Dibs on the tail lights! PM me if they're available. I assume since the camera is intact, it was a frontal impact, thus the tail lights might be in good shape.
