All I can say is not fighting sometimes is the best course of action.

They let my boss go on Tuesday. I've been working for her 25 years. It was abrupt, and none of us know the reason. It's like a death in a family. She was one of 5 of us with 25+ years in the same group. Of course I'm unhappy but I have bills to pay so I have to move forward.

I hope things turn out better for you than you think they will. You definitely seem like a great guy and not one to deserve the shit end of the stick. Maybe you can micro manage the fuck outta the green newb and take comfort in that.

You’re absolutely right, Rob. When the BS got too thick, after 17 long waitin for things to get better years, I finally Quit. Now things are better at my New place then I could have even imagined. So glad I finally did it.

 

Well you know, I'm a no bs kinda person. Don't sit there and blow sunshine up my ass with your agenda saying the guys at the busy stations are tired of getting drug down. Especially when the ones that are working there are in the same room when you're saying this shit and they all state that they would rather stay where they are. The management seems to thrive on anger and discontent with the employees. The thing is if you have happy employees they will do more for you than if you're constantly trying to piss them off. Just like after they did this shit to the shift yesterday and said something about things they were doing on the reports and not to do them. Well they left and did the same thing again to give them some shit back.

A while back the county needed some money they said to fix the compression they caused on us. County manager butter one of them up by giving his wife that works in another dept a raise of 2-3 pay grades. Then comes in and says they need our budget cut by $400k to make this compression fix. He does all this bs and makes the shit happen. Then also finds a way to increase the intake of money in 6 month of doing it raises it by $67k. Well now you've shown that you can operate with $400k less in the budget and made them more money. The other dept's didn't cut anything and simply stated they couldn't operate under what they were at the time. We need 4 new ambulances they say. They got 2 even though that $400 would cover the compression and the ambulances in full. Plus getting them a new supervisor truck. Not to mention they went to smaller ambulances and saved $10k per truck they order now. Which was a dumb move Imho. Well they got the 2 ambulances and the compression didn't get fixed but we got a 2% raise across the board. That doesn't fix the compression it keeps it and just throw a little change out there to everyone to ease it over in their mind. I have one uniform I can wear and have to wash the damn thing before every shift. The last service I worked at I could go a week or two and not have to wash a uniform if I wanted to. I'm just fed up with the bs and making shit up to serve their agenda.

We had one supervisor that's been there for 30+ years just retire. I completely understand why he did because he should have been next up for asst chief but they bumped him. Asst chief now says he's going to retire with the chief and not take the position. That's the biggest bs lie I've ever heard come out of his mouth. He's setting himself up for that now after bumping the other guy. Hell, he already handles more shit than the chief does.

 

This is a sink or swim operation. I can handle my own, and always have. Give me a driver and I'm good. I got thrown into the fire the first day I showed up as a medic.

Time to focus on positive things like new patches and killing some fuckers on the PS4.

 

Yea, I have considered change but I guess, bottom line, fear stops me. I am content to the point that I let the bad be outweighed by the good. Plus, I have been working since I was 15 (paying taxes) and unlike some people I have had a lot of a jobs. Government and private sector. I am not an overly intelligent person and have no college degrees. I'm basically street smart and can comprehend things well enough to learn them quickly. I am also a bit of a techie and in this day and age, for someone my age, that helps immensely. I'm also very outgoing and not afraid to ask questions. I honestly do not have anything to complain about.

Point I am making is, through it all, some jobs have been more fun or less stressful than others but none have ever been so delightful that I forgot it was work. I am truly a firm believer that the grass can be, but is not guaranteed to always be greener on the other side of the fence.

There are certain things as I've gotten older I've learned to accept. Having a job that is Work, and not Play, is one of them.

Unless anyone knows of a position open for a couch and tv tester in Hawaii?

 

Yea see, this is all just corporate bullshit that is part of the games they higher up play because they believe they know what's best for everyone else. I have seen this so often..............



I feel for ya Murph. Like I said, no hard working, God fearin' citizen should have to put up with it but unfortunately we always will.

Ya, but as a benefit you only have to see him when you want to.

 

This place is just about to give me an aneurism.... 2 of my housekeepers were mopping the front entrance floor. To help dry the floor they propped the doors open. Not a problem MOST days, but it's still 12 degrees outside. So, I asked them to shut the doors. Another employee was walking by. He got all butthurt because he THOUGHT I was talking to him. I told him I was not talking to him. I was talking to someone else. Simple enough....Until he goes to MY boss and tells him I said to "Shut the fuck up and quit talking to me". My boss starts lecturing me. I walk away from BOTH of them. Now I'm the bad guy.

BTW....Doors remained open....and my boss told the housekeepers to shut the door. They tell my boss they were about to because I'd just asked them to, but walked away when the other employee started throwing his tantrum.

Almost like working at a preschool....

 

...except you don't get milk and naptime.
