I have a feeling pro will not be offered in the Tacoma for 2020.
No Taco pro for full model change for 2016.
No Tundra pro for 2018 when releasing mid model change.
If history serves correct this is the pattern.

Really for me it's mostly awkward just getting in. Stepping over the predator step tube and into the cab, I have to lift leg up and over, while squeezing down to keep from hitting my head. Then I can unfold once inside... I'm making it sound a lot worse than it is really. No deal killer at all. I guess it's taking some getting used to after my last vehicle I had for 10 years, a 2007 Tacoma with a 6" lift that I climbed up into.
I think I will try removing the predator steptubes next...

Kind of had this gut feeling myself.

*OP* I think you should get the '18 Pro if you have the funds. I'll bet if you end up really liking the 2020 you will get top trade in for the Pro on one! Just my .02...

If it’s a good deal I’d buy the pro now. There is nothing confirming that the 2020 mode will be any different. They are releasing new specs for future models to have, that doesn’t mean it’s coming on the 2020 model. Also as someone else mentioned, they may not offer a pro in 2020.

I would probably care less about any heated or electric seats. If the truck has a cosmetic facelift and apple/android car play capability, I'd wait.

I would think that a new TRD Pro for $42k is somewhat unicornish, and not likely to lose much value over the course of a year. Depending on what your potential whack would be from state sales tax, I say get the Pro, drive it for a year, and if the 2020 proves to be more desirable then offload the '18 for what I would think would be a minimal loss.

That’s terrible financial advise, OP will lose at least 10% if he does that. Either way OP will most likely regret something, if you buy the pro now and then the 2020 is in fact a better truck then then you regret your purchase, don’t buy now and the 2020 is not new and no pro, and again regret. Flip a coin and decide, it’s a crap shoot either way.

So he'd lose $4,200? "Lose" depends on how you look at it. If he'd bought and never drove it, yeah, he'd lose $4,200. But if he got a years worth of use out of it, $4,200 sounds about right for a years worth of use from a vehicle. And just a quick search on cars.com in my neck of the woods shows the lowest price of a used TRD Pro at $41,500 for a 2017 with 12K miles on it.

The value loss is on top of your monthly payments, so yes it’s a loss. And that 41,500 is what dealers are “asking”, you’re not getting that for a trade in. It’d be worth around 36-37k on a trade so yea it’d be a big hit to trade it in.

Says the guy who bought a 2WD Off-road. Your opinion is not valid and therefore cannot be trusted.
