I guess it depends on how cold your place gets at night. Our 'well-ventilated' log cabin can be chilly at night. It is a definite transition when getting out from under the down. :)

I did get it checked out and it is cancer. I am undergoing Radiation Treatment daily, for 22 more days. I waited for 4 or 5 days before getting an ENT (Ear Noes Throat) Dr to check it out. Good thing I did not wait longer.

    Afternoon all:
Hope all fares well for you Dave, good thing that you did get it checked.

ALMOST! Went up to the lake to see if anyone was ice fishing, A****** decides to turn off into a restaurant, hits the brakes about 50' from where they are turning, and maybe puts the turn signal on. The car in front of me is hard on the brakes to stop from hitting them, I'm on the brakes pretty hard to stop from hitting the car in front of me, and there's a white pickup bearing down on me fast! Just when I was waiting for impact, nothing, the white pickup managed to turn into a field to avoid hitting me, luckily there were no poles or signs where he went into the field and it was just a close call, could have been much worse!

I use Tom Fuller English flints from Track of the Wolf.
By far, they seem like the best ones. The Frenchie flints are second.

I started my blacksmith class last night. WAY COOL. I had so much fun. Coke in the forge and a nice fan setup. Lots of tools and a great instructor. I made a hook for a coat.
The instructor also does flintlock shooting, so a source of info there.

Also found there is a monthly meeting of a knife club.

Went for a follow up Dr. Visit today from the melanoma surgery and got a thumbs up.

Will still have to see Doctor every 4 months for several years.

I went there. There are SO many to choose from. A search of 'Flint' returned 900 items.
Tom Fuller Flints returned a long list.

    Morning all:

Yes, thanks, that's two really close ones recently. Think I posted that just as I was about to turn left into my driveway a car passes me on the left, I missed turning into them by less than a second. Brake lights on, turn signal on, and double yellow no passing lines, didn't expect someone to pass. :notsure:
Hope this truck isn't jinxed!

Agree!! Same here. It's been in the low 60's at night, and everyone is bitching.

I've been snow camping where I have snowmobiled or hiked in, in sub zero temps maybe four times, not a lot of fun, can only say I did it. Just a bitch packing in the morning after you have dared to leave a warm sleeping bag.

I once rode a bicycle up Mt Washington. It wasn’t fun. The next year I went back and did it again, this time better prepared. It still wasn’t fun. At the motel the day before the second race, I met some guys who were doing it for the first time; they asked me if I enjoyed it.

I said no. (I can still see the looks on their faces.)

But I *can* say that I’ve done it. Twice!

I rode the cog railway up Mt. Washington in October a few years ago. On the way up could see hikers out of the train window. When we got to the top it was snowing with strong winds and very cold.

Went inside the facilities and hikers were lying all over the floor with some of the clothes they had layered all around them.

Walked around the building and saw the list with names of the ones who perished trying to hike to the summit. As best I can recall it was about 189 names.

I need to stick to the flatlands...at least during very cold weather.

I do admire those with the stamina and courage to complete the climb.

A guy I work with is doing the Appalachian Trail a piece at a time. Last year he did Mt. Washington. Forget the weather, the climb is a bear all by itself! He said part of it was a boulder field and he had to pick his way through with his backpack in front of him due to the small openings in places. He's a pretty tough egg and he was hurting by the time he topped out.
