I doubt I'll be buying anything until after I buy a house but I look all the time. I'm kinda really liking the new Bonneville T120. It's got heated grips and cruise control factory installed. Nice machine.

cool looking bikes, any reason to go for the 60 over the scout?

Well, it's a couple thousand less than the regular Scout, but has the same dimensions and weights, etc. It's a smaller engine, so the fuel economy would be a little better than the regular Scout, too. It makes less HP, too, (78 vs 100), but the GF doesn't ride pillion and I would mostly ride back roads and commute on it, so 78hp is plenty for little old me. My Suzuki made 50hp and worked fine, and the Ninja made all of 29 or something like that (but made up for it by being a totally different bike North of 10k rpm).

Plus the registration and insurance are cheaper, too. :notsure:

    Those Scouts are not cheap.

Makes sense! My friend was looking at them and thought the opposite.."only a few grand more and it has 100hp!?" There is definitely a market for the 60 though, make sure you post pics when you buy one :boink:

Don't get the 690 for dirt in the Northeast!
    It's to heavy!!!
Unless you just plan on taking it on fireroads only.
Even the 500 is to big for the Northeast in my opinion.
If you were out west where it's alot of open terrain I'd say go for it.

I know nothing about the topic, I don't think I would do severe off-roading or dirt stuff with it. More dirt-road driving stuff and I think it looks cool as hell with the tank bag and panniers and all that fun stuff.

I really love the looks of them, but once you start really looking at the specs, there are much quicker and more power options out there.

Very true, they're on par with a Harley in terms of new pricing. But I'd more or less decided that I'd like my next bike to be American-made, and given the prices I've seen of used ones, they hold their value pretty well. Plus I love how they look, and the ergonomics were perfect for me when I made the mistake of sitting on one at the dealership a while ago. Unlike the Harley 883, which didn't feel right. Felt smaller than my old Suzuki did.

Yeah, I'm past my 'speed demon' days with bikes. My 636 would break the legal limits in pretty much every gear, which was why I sold it in the first place, lol. These days I'm more interested in a comfortable cruiser than anything else

True... but's a carbureted, 5 speed bike... SM a DR650 and upgrade the suspension and you've got something or, go with one of the newer fuel injected bikes. I haven't looked at them in a while, but back when the WR250 came out, I'd have been hard pressed to shell out for a DRZ400 when I could get a little fuel injected 250 that would basically do the same thing (plus the DRZ is too damn tall).

Yup, I can't wait for a good snow storm, but I am also ready for spring to head back out on the bikes! I can't wait to go back out on my Raider, or my uncle's FZ-09!

Except a cold morning, unless you treat it like Darth Vader handles promotions.

And for those looking at bikes. Old people still ride sport bikes.

This is true that's why I'm on a KTM 350 now
But the price difference is a small fortune!
