In pretty sure this is a common problem but has anyone ripped off one of there steps when off-roading and if so have any of your guys try to fix them by welding it back on?

It’s metal so wielding it back on won’t be an issue.

It’s more so did you learn your lesson, off roading with things that hang low is never a good idea.

If you want to Off Road and keep your truck protected get sliders. Steps are not able to take much abuse of the off reading nature.

No kidding? Does that mean copper and bronze is also a metal?! The point was it rules out the diy weld for most people and limits what shops you can go to.

Don’t be an asshole farmer. :smack:

Yes, those are metals too. Al wielding is common. The OP simply asked if it can be wielded. No need to tip toe on sensitive feelings.

Or be an asshole for no reason, but if you think anyone was butt hurt then you might be the sensitive one. I was also making a point. IF the OP isn’t aware it can even be welded then he probably isn’t aware that he can’t do it with his harbor freight stick welder.

    Welcome to TW btw!

If op didn’t know it could be wielded, then all I did was let him know that it could be. He didn’t ask how simple it is to accomplish it. Your first response was to ask if it’s aluminum, which yes it is; and like I said, it can be wielded. Perhaps instead of asking if it is aluminum, you could of stated all of diy harbor freight stuff from the start. You can’t simply assume by mentioning it’s aluminum, that whole world knows it’s not going to be a simple wield.

Thanks, there’s good stuff on here.

It was a question, if it was steel (I thought not) then wouldn’t have been left there. Being aluminum, I would’ve added some advice about keeping that in mind to the OP but then the thread devolved. You were over simplistic, I was apparently being over complicated. Different approaches, both seeking to help the OP. He has his answers so we can both leave it there.

Or maybe, just maybe, take a second to explain what the hell your "point" was (right in the first post) for people who don't have welding experience and can't jump twenty steps from the shit you posted to your conclusion, before calling them assholes.
