I looked at a ridgeline but wasn't able to get past the minivan with a bed lol . There isn't any other trucks I like out there Atm in a midsize . So I bought a 2018 Accord 2.oT sport for now drive it for 3 years or more till Toyota comes out with a better engine and transmission . IMG_0158 (1).jpg

...^^^... Very nice car  ... my wife has a new Honda Jazz in Thailand (same as Honda Fit in USA) and she wants a Honda CRV when she gets to the USA next year.

FWIW ... I liked the bed in the Ridgeline with that giant water proof trunk in the bed ... it was the mini-van ride and handling that go to me too.

I saw the coolest Honda CRV ever in Thailand ... it was a twin turbo diesel with bigger tires and etc. and AWD and it was all OEM from the factory ... the price was almost $50,000.00 US too.

I have some pics of it somewhere.

Finally I am seeing positive feedback on 3rd gens. I have a 2019 TRD OR and freaking love it. What I find most hilarious are people the same height as Danny Devito bitching about head room and I am 6'4 with zero issues. The truck shifts fine with my foot in it.

1st the transmission thing pisses me of so freaking much. It makes me not want to buy this thing ever again. Its my one true complaint. I didnt know how to describe it, but you hit the nail on the head. The TSB made it better, but not perfect. It drives me insane during road trips. It feels as if the computer is saying "oh you're chilling in 6th gear at 80mph and that gust of wind dropped you down to 78mph? Let me shift down to 4th gear to catch back up, as a matter of fact let me go ahead and lock the rear diff so you get enough power to go up 2mph" damnit I despise that.

2nd I have so many freaking little paint chip from idk what hitting it. Oh well, I can then justify Line Xing it in that sweet orange they have. Oh and the abortion part made me chuckle.

Two words....sport mode. I get better mileage avoiding 5th & 6 unless on a 4 lane, then 5th. 6 is for downhill or downwind only. Try it...4th gear and stay around 2 grand on the tach. That is the sweet spot.

Because it's one more gear than the 3rd gen has that actually works. See above only 4 gears work in the 3rd gens the other 2 are garbage.

I've got a late-build (June) 2018 TRD OR DC. Zero issues with transmission or engine. Granted, I live in Florida where the only hills are the overpasses, but zero issues.

The truck is a daily driver/beach truck. It performs perfectly for what I use it for. I've got another vehicle to have fun with.

I have no doubt that owners who live in hilly/mountainous areas have shifting problems, but none for me in flat St. Augustine, FL.

To a degree, I would argue the opposite. I can understand getting annoyed with unfounded complaints or those who simply want to troll on the internet...for whatever reason, but there is most definitely value to having discussion and pointing out shortcomings. Like it or not, there have been complaints about the current truck, and they haven't just been from random TacomaWorld fly by night non-enthusiast troll posters that didn't go on a long enough test drive. Insert next 30 replies of "I've had my truck for x amount of time and have had no issues" here ;). If there hadn't been dissention regarding the "known" driving characteristics, there would not be things like the OV tune coming to the market to help fix unappealing characteristics. Some people have had issues with or don't like THEIR Tacoma and that's fine. It works the other way too. If owners absolutely love their truck and can't find a single fault, that's great. It's not the end of the world either way. I don't understand why people get so upset if a different person owns and dislikes a truck that just so happens to be the same make and model as the one that they love. I hate blind bashing as much as the next, but there is value to constructive criticism. Hopefully manufacturers see it that way too. Squeaky wheel gets the oil...

Sorry about your lemon, the majority of us are happy with what we bought and have better service. Perhaps that’s why there aren’t more complaints.

Anyways, hope it works out. It really is a great truck, maybe it will take some better techs somewhere else to figure out why yours isn't up to your liking. I may have just lucked out, so I don’t feel the same way about mine.

A great example is the coming electric seat. Took nearly four years, but it’s coming.

Led lights appear to be coming. It’s no wonder, the halogens suck.

The real question mark remains. Are they changing the powertrain? Did they license OVTUNE or do something on their own? Eight speed? I had a 2017 OR for 14 months and although it did not exhibit the issues that many have complain about, I did not like the 4-6th gear implementation. Driving 70-80mph in Texas was annoying. That needs to be fixed and considering HQ is a few miles from me, there are plenty of owners in or near that zip code that would give them plenty of feedback.

    2020 better get er done.
