Agreed! If you look at history, this current overall design has another 5-6 years left before they do any drastic changes.

Do you know if those Transmission are rated for Truck use, towing, high torque and HP?

They also weigh more. Not an option I'm interested in.

The 8 speed in the Land Cruiser would more than suffice.

I'm leaning towards an updated transmission. Gaining only one gear since 2005 seems pretty weak in comparison to their competitors. The market has changed and this could help with drivability, towing, fuel economy and performance. It just seems that running a 6 speed post-2020, when your direct competitors are offering 8-10 speeds doesn't seem feasible. This segment is heating up.

We may also see an updated instrument cluster, since that seems to be a pretty common item included in refreshes.

Incorrect, look back a few posts, but redesign is planned for 2022, everyone is just looking at the prior generation and 4runner which is a bad way to gauge it since there was basically no competition in the segment.

No new platform 4Runner until 2024? That's nuts. 14 years on the same platform with a refresh in 2015 and 2020? Talk about milking it.

not broke don’t fix it, Toyota’s moto. Or no real competition means more development time.

They just need to refresh the interior of the current 4Runner. TSS/AppleCarPlay, etc...It is the perfect SUV imo.

Tacoma interior on 4Runner (minus the seats), LED lights everywhere = perfect.

Exactly. Not sure how two extra gears will change bad programming.

The Ford 10 speed does not shift 1 thru 10 unless under full throttle. So it might start out in 4th, shift to 7th, and then to 10, the extra gears just give the computer options to pick the most efficient.

I like how everyone thinks power seats implies up/down movement. Power seats can easily not be height adjustable. I doubt Toyota would add power seats and height adjustability at the same time

It would be funny as hell if Toyota listened to everyone complaining about the shifting and just stuck a CVT in the next Tacoma.

The video shows the seat going up and down, watch it to the end. It is height adjustable.
