OVTune 3.5L Tacoma Supercharger and Twin Turbo Systems

Yep, simply no room to make one fit. I even tried fitting an extremely small turbo, the 3.5L ecoboost turbo. No go. Nothing will fit in there, and if you do it from below, it hangs too low.

Thats unfortunate! Are we looking at different turbo options now that we are heading the single Turbo route?

Not yet.
Currently we are working with T4 twin scroll 0.94 IWG EFR 7670. Should provide amazing response and good for 600HP.
I considered going with single > V-band 0.85 EFR 7163 first, as this would provide ecoboost like levels of response (full boost practically off idle) but the risk of surge is too high with a setup like that.

 

The stock clutch I bet couldn’t handle it can’t even handle backing up an incline lol

 

Matt will be the one to put this truck to its limits to see what its capable of . But safe to assume if you want 600hp you will need to upgrade quite a few parts and i hope brakes are first on the list haha

 

that's the thing. i can pony up for a turbo. it's all the other stuff i can't totally commit to. i already can barely stop this thing when i'm on it.

 

A 600 HP Tacoma? Such a truck would be absolutely monstrous. I'd probably have my rear tires burned down to the threads after a day

I'd better start saving for a big brake kit...

 

The turbo is good to 600 horsepower. This kit won't be 600 horse. The 3.5 is not going to handle 600 horsepower. I would be surprised if he tunes it for more than 400 horse. It needs to be reliable if you're going to put it on your daily driven vehicle.

 

Don’t forget with the leaf spring rear suspension in these trucks, you’re going to need traction bars if you want to attempt any serious power

 

Mat said a while ago the previous generation of this engine was safely tuned to 500 horsepower
But remember, mat is offering more than one level to these kits, one will be minimal power, one will be more power and the last will probably be in the 600hp range

 

Hopefully the 400hp version produces peak torque about 1500rpm lower.

 

i have a traction bar. and all the drama that came with it. it's in the corner of my garage until, i don't know, turbo and BBK time?

I think a 450hp (400whp) version would be perfect! More than enough power for these trucks, in line with an Ecoboost V6 but in a much smaller truck. Should allow for daily driver level reliability. The more power down low the better.

 

@OVTune , if you clocked the turbo outlet towards the throttle body what is the distance?

 

Not much, less than 2 feet.

 

So I am planning on this when its available.... Im going to guess I should probably not get a snorkel then?

 

Can I tow a 5th wheel with this mod?
