Being you just moved in to the area he may already have a house around there that takes him in in severe weather.... hopefully anyway!

I haven't posted any pictures of Kink in a bit, here she is interrupting some stitching. She's always gotta lay on my stomach during my flare-up days; hitting me with a little bit of that healing power straight to the stomach where I need it most, haha

Mine would get urinary tract infections when she was young, I would crush up a half of a vitamin C pill in her food for a few days and it would clear up. Ended up changing her diet from hard food to wet food and she hasn't had a problem since

I would call the vet's office, they might be able to prescribe something or offer some advice. Idk if you can give cats pyridium, you might want to ask that too. They sell tablets otc in the women's section under AZO urinary relief. Make sure you ask first though, I've never dispensed pyridium at the pharmacy for a cat so idk if it's safe. But it would help with the pain and help with bladder emptying in case its getting backed up. wouldnt want a kidney infection.

Please don't do this or try any other home remedies without talking to a vet first. Take it from a pair of healthcare professionals, the internet is not the place to get medical/veterinary advice!

That said, certain feline urinary tract disorders are treated with urine acidifiers - DL Methionine is the most common - and most foods are now formulated to lower urine pH somewhat. Our cat Ginger takes the DL Meth chronically for urinary struvite crystals. The key part of that sentence is "chronically". Vitamin-C is water soluble and freely excreted via the kidneys. People that think taking large amounts of vitamin-C is good for colds or whatever (anything more than a few hundred milligrams at the most) are literally pissing their money away because the kidneys unload any extra almost immediately. Take too much and you can actually damage your kidneys, and I have no idea how much is too much for a cat.

He needs to be seen by a vet, but I agree that this would freak him out and might run him off. Do you know a vet that you can talk to for advice on this? If not, PM me and I'll ask mine. She's a Board Certified Feline Specialist from one of the biggest/best veterinary schools in the country (Ohio State).

Again, please call a vet. Also note that pyridium is an azo dye (bright orange) that is also used for coloring textiles. I had to take it once back in college...dirty bitches. I peed bright orange for days, and I totally freaked out a guy next to me in the men's room at a bar on wing night. "Dude, how hot were those fucking wings?!?!?" Anyway, if he pees on your carpet after taking pyridium you will never get the stain out.

The vet's office said is sounds like a serious UTI. They cannot prescribe anything without an exam. Vet is out of town until next week. He does make house calls if we can coordinate with The Boy & Dr. Berger

Be careful, our male cat had some issues with this and he got very close to complete blockage and if that happens it is not a good thing.

He is now on a special diet which is working well.

My wife took this for a UTI once and yeah she made me go look at her bright orange pee! Thought she was dying. :rofl:She really is the best but sometimes....I then went to her prescription bottle which had a warning stating this. While laughing I showed her and she just wanted to know who the :censored: reads those things.

I wouldn’t wait. I’d at least get the ball rolling with another vet if possible. Be prepared for full urinalysis and blood work up. It’s not going to be a cheap trip either way. By this point you guys are too attached not to see this through. Fingers cross he’s going to be ok!!!
