Which the 2nd gen cannot keep up with once moving. Towing on third is faster then 2nd also in the gauntlet test by almost a minute. Time to have a few beers before 2nd arrives. :drunk:
With almost 20% more hp in 3rd I guess they needed an extra 2 gears minus the history of garbage 2nd gen frames.
Don't buy a F-150, they have 10 gears. Welcome to new tech.

Maybe the lower 6MT gears belong in the 6AT in order to hold speeds on inclines? Give us 6MT's the higher 6th.

The thought that they would license OVTune makes me laugh. You think Toyota doesn’t have the research and dev department to come up with something better than one guy?

    So riddle me this ?
Why dose OVTune exist for the glorious 4.0 at $600 ?
If it were so perfect as they say here, the torque monster it is, 0-60 and towing faster than 3rd (um scratch that) , it just doesn't make any sense.

Anything can be improved upon, i am sure there are aftermarket tuners for a Hellcat, that obviously doesn't mean it is a bad factory performing engine,

It entirely depends on how your built. Im 6'1 and I have a friend that is pretty much the same height. I have plenty of head room and he hates riding in my truck because his head is so close to the roof. Hes got a longer torso and I have longer legs.

Another gripe about this truck though is kind of head room related........does anyone feel like the windshield should be about another inch higher? The design cuts off vision for taller people like looking up at traffic lights. I noticed it when we got the truck and dont any more but its something new passengers have commented on.

Comfort is so subjective because of that exact reason , even same height people come in different shapes and sizes.

I guess it's hard to make a vehicle that fits all body sizes and shapes. Power seats with memory function would alleviate a lot of that. Visibility is important to me and thankfully with the current seat and windshield arrangement I see pretty well in my Tacoma. I test drove a FJ Cruiser awhile back and damn, I couldn't see for crap.

Yes, I am like you I have long legs and I guess a normalish torso. Yes I agree the windshield is a little too low.. or the seat is too high....

I have no problem with constructive criticism what so ever. Is the Tacoma perfect? Hell no. But tell me what vehicle is? They all have faults and idiosyncrasies. But there seems to be two camps of thought here. One thinks the truck is great overall. The other thinks it has too many problems. I say if someone thinks their truck is a POS, then simply trade it for something you like and fade away nicely from the forum ( or hang around for the good times). There seems to be many folks that expect perfection from a vehicle that NO manufacturer can meet and are unreasonably unhappy when the truck is not perfect.

I have seen stupid stuff happen in the software industry. But yes, you would think Toyota would improve the damn tune.

Agree 100%. I've yet to own a perfect vehicle and probably never will. That is a benefit of criticism though, with the hope being that it pushes manufacturers to continuously improve their products. That can't happen if everyone who has a dissenting opinion is pushed off into the corner. For better or worse, public perception is still a pretty strong thing. No matter what the product, if you put it into the hands of 100 different users you'll have a boatload of different opinions, like/dislikes, and annoyances. Simple human nature. The input still has some measure of value either way, far more so than group think. If someone is just non-stop spamming the board or trolling, sure that's one thing. That said, I don't see the point in running someone off of an online truck forum just because they didn't have the same experience or share the same viewpoint with their Tacoma as the majority. As an enthusiast, it would get pretty boring only reading threads which can solely speak about a vehicle's positive attributes while holding hands, drinking Kool-Aid, and singing Kumbaya.

Me either...I looked on this forum (and others) and test drove all of the competition, BEFORE buying a new one. I actually was surprised to find none of the shifting/power issues. Perhaps it is because they are fixed or I'm just older and have different expectations. After putting 2500 miles on the truck in varying conditions....I own a horse farm on a river in a valley, so I use the 4WD and travel up and down mountainous roads/highways daily - I think the truck is terrific - not perfect, but terrific for my needs.

Interesting. Been hearing about that but I guess I'm lucky. No issues beyond the normal stuff with the AT

I don't have any surge issue either. It does downshift a lot when you change speeds on the highway but I do realize I have a truck with a 4 cylinder and only 159 HP and am not driving a 2500lb coupe with 325 HP so I expect it'll have to work a bit at 75 MPH+ speeds. Maybe if the shifts weren't so abrupt and noticeable there wouldn't be so many people annoyed, but that too I chalk up to it being a truck and a lower HP 4 cylinder.

I have to say, it's even gotten noticeably smoother since day 1 and I only have 1800 miles on it yet.
