We're hitting the coldest temperatures of the year here in Tennessee. 20 degreess this morning. I usually bike commute to work but 25 degrees is my cutoff. Can't even tell you the last time I rode MTB

I know the feeling man, I used to have sub 10 be my limit although I still rode in many times just cause my parking used to be 17 a day. Good luck man, I know the east can be brutal this time of year.

Yea so if it got to 9 or under I would typically call it. I had clothes for it, but with it being a 14 mile one way commute my feet were always frozen by the last ten minutes of the ride. That shit just became miserable in the winter to survive. Its one thing to ride into work, but knowing in the afternoon you get to do it all over again used to bum me out but it was a good workout platform.

Being out west now...that life is in the past man although I sure show the road bike more love, but it will likely sit while the trail bikes get used.

When I used to work in DC we had a guy who would come in every other week and tell us how Chicago was when he was going back home. I did not envy that guy. Always 20-40 degrees colder.

Fuck that noise, y'all are crazy. We got two inches of snow yesterday; schools were canceled and a vast majority of people didn't show up to the office

This cold is actually record breaking. But make no mistake it does get horrible. Last week we got 6” of snow one day and cold ass weather the next down to -10 or so. Hitting that is typical a couple times a winter each year. Gotta love the Windy City!!

Seattle is having equally horrible weather. 50 Farenheit and mostly sunny. Those of us in the PNW are not certain what to do when this bright orange globe appears in the sky during winter. Please send prayers and thoughts our way.

Snark out of the way, extreme weather is one of two reasons I moved here. I sincerely hope those of you in the cold today stay warm and safe!

Also, I am patiently waiting for the entire family to move to bikes which have quick releases. The boys were begging for the pump track at Torguson Park, and since they have the day off (“between semesters” the school said), we went! The 6 yr old was non-stop for nearly an hour. No complaints from me.

Hooray bike parts! Ordered a few more pieces I needed (wanted) for both the Transition and Salsa projects, so its new parts day. Put the Paul hubs in the pic too since they are pretty cool parts.

Man I miss the beauty that Seattle is. My favorite thing ever was after a week of cloudy gloom when the sun finally broke out and it was a sunny 70 degrees. That being said I do not miss the commute and traffic...

The first sunny day in Seattle spring is the greatest day ever! I miss playing around in Cougar Mountain or in the pass then wandering over to the Rogue brewery in Issaquah.

Been hitting Big Cedar after work this week (South Dallas area) and wondering if I've even made a dent in my ultra-shitty stamina...LOL. Nothing like a few solo rides to remind you that you're still WAY out of shape...

Brooks C17 all weather for the Salsa; giving the C15 Cambium used on the Salsa back to the Transition project.

Surly cog for the Paul fixed disc hub for the Transition. Laced the wheels last night and now need to true and tension them properly. LBS also has a set of TRP brakes for this build I will pick up next week.

Plus upgrading to orange Atlas pedals and seat post clamp for the Salsa too. Custom bags for the Salsa are several weeks out still but some orange will be used there too.

I like custom bikes and everything I own now is a custom build. I also have a fondness for the some of the same parts, so you see repeats across several bikes for the favorite stuff.

    The current bike collection

    Transition Rapture - 700x40c - project
    - fixed gear disc brake
    - dirt drop handlebar road bike?
    - stupid around town type deal

    Salsa Blackborow - 26x4.6 - project
    - fat tire mid tail bikepacking / winter bike
    - studs for winter, meats for summer
    - bags and rack and holders for gear
    16EB48D9-6806-4E80-99FC-2F689C6A1D80.jpg

    Santa Cruz Chameleon - 27.5+
    - single speed 140mm travel dropper post hardtail
    - the go to mountain bike, good for everything
    45F8DDD4-D323-470E-B1E7-9288A35C9922.jpg

Santa Cruz Jackal - 26 DJ
    - Pike DJ fork
    - All Chris King bearings, carbon crankset, totally overdone dream build

    Surly Crosscheck
    - Road bike with style
    - Brooks leather and wood rack etc.
