I went to the dealer today (Lewis Toyota Topeka Kansas) to buy genuine plugs, wires, cap, and rotor for my 1996 2.4L but they did not have any of the parts in stock. Is that a shame or what, dealer does not even have tune up parts for a 2.4!!! They told me they would order them, I told them forget it. Is there anything wrong with aftermarket tune up part? Advanced auto had everything except the wires and told me they could have them by tomorrow a.m (sunday) they even had the TB gasket. Dealer told me MAYBE they could have the parts in 3 days, what a joke!

    getting there....
i'd go ahead with what you can get from the auto parts store....but i would stick with ngk or denso plugs........our tacomas just dont like aftermarket plugs too much. wires/cap/rotor should all be fine to use from a place like autozone.

and i'll bet your dealership is full of crap...they just want people to bring their vehicles in. our local honda dealership says the same thing when i went to get stuff for the wifes car and the old prelude i just bought. what a shame. if you can wait a little bit.....order from rockauto.com...awesome prices and customer service..and shipping is quick.
