I highly recommend OffGrid Engineering. I've been running their kit since they were introduced (about two years ago) and have been more than pleased with it.

Tell her to leave her hair dryer at home and you’d be fine with a single battery.

Hey probably a dumb question but why is the kit so expensive? $799 seems like a lot for essentially a few components, none of which seem they should be that much OTS. Not hating and am looking for a solution that I don’t have to engineer... just wondering why it’s so dear.

It’s about $380 in off the shelf parts plus whatever the material/labor/production costs for the custom parts and cables run. Add in a profit margin to keep the business going and pay the owner’s bills and it seems fair.

It was worth at least $200 of the total cost for the simple ease of install and not having to figure out how to set it up myself.

The isolator they use is ~$200 on its own, it’s a quality item, and the most important part of a dual battery setup (done right). not those stupid RV diode shit that many others use. The cables are also expensive. So $300 for the wiring kit seems fair, but $500 for brackets (although nice), does seem expensive. But I’d pay $800 for that kit over $300 to $500 for some of the other total junk I’ve seen posted.

off grid sells just the battery tray for the dual kits if you want to build your own. cable is cheap. hardest part is crimping the terminals. the blue seas isolator is $$
