    What about today? I am currently in N Kingston, and may swing to New Bedford, or, I may be doing my whole day here...

    I will look into them. I use some of the cold gear(pants mostly) this time of year, butm since I shred about 2 pair of decent mechanic glove a week... I wonder how long theyd last? Between oil, antisieze, dope, etc... BUT, even if I cant use them for work, they sound like theyd be good fkr other activities...

    @Bridge4
    There isnt much I wouldnt be willing to give a shot to at this point.

    Texas is the same. 5-6 months of the year- unrideable conditions. At least in my book. My buddies want me to join them on a tour of West Virgina and Tenn this year... in July. I told them to count me out.

    Check out the route. If you're higher up in elevation, those areas might not be too bad. I used to live in Richmond, VA and, on a hot July day, I'd head west on the bike. Once I started getting into the foothills, it was actually very pleasant.

    Those FZ's are nuts, I love the naked styling. Haven't they changed the name to MT-xx now?

    Man, it's amazing to see one of those things without the extended swingbar and extra wide rear tire. nice bike!

    Those monkeys look like so much fun you should totally do it! Also, there is no shame in having compromises in a relationship/marriage

    Yeah, I've done it a bunch, I used to do a rally every year somewhere down there until I came to my senses. West Virginia, Tenn, North Carolina... the problem is getting there. It's two days down and two back on the highway in 90+ temps (sometimes 100+) and it's just miserable!

    Can't argue that. It was down there that I finally picked up a mesh riding jacket. Up here, I always wore my leather jacket. It had vents in the front, back and elbows that kept me cool enough. Down there, I finally broke down and bought a full mesh jacket with just the plastic reinforcement on the 'slide areas'.

    I love my mesh jacket. But I'm due for a new helmet-hopefully before I pick up my bike from storage.

    Even better is an evaporative vest under your mesh jacket but even then the constant heat is like riding in a blow torch all day long. Takes the fun out of it for me.

    Yeah, they are good looking, and from my one ride, extremely fun to ride! They did change the name recently to MT-09, since that is the name of the bike around the world (just the US had the FZ name).

    I dunno, it can be 100+ and I will still jump on the bike. Did have a perf'd leather jacket for the heat though. Both Vansons.

    On the plastic mesh...
    Nope, never again. Had a lowside years ago.. plastic melted to my arm, and the cinch button on my forearm burned into the skin.
    My current jacket is textile, but, nice and heavy. It would be trashed after a crash, but, I am okay with that.

    What do you mean plastic mesh? You have me worried about my jacket now. Mine, I think, is more like what you described after. It's a textile mesh, if I ever crashed, it'd very likely would be damaged to the point I'd have to throw it out. The 'slide' areas though are heavily reinforced though. The elbows, shoulder and spine have a very heavy canvas-like material covering them. The elbows and shoulders have molded hard plastic underneath the heavy canvas and the spine has a dense foam under the canvas. The rest of the jacket, you can pretty much see through. It's a Joe Rocket jacket, not overly expensive but fits well and I thought would protect me if I ever laid the bike down. My alternative jacket is a heavy leather vented jacket.

    Morning all! TGIF!! GO PATS!

    26 and sunny, with no breeze. That's the perfect day. A day on the ice or hunting snowshoes on snowshoes with weather like that is just about as good as it gets.

    @Pugga
    It was SOMETHING like this.
    Screenshot_20190201-093947_Chrome.jpg

    But, all that reinforcement? Was not there. Just soft foam pads at elbow, shoulders, and back.
    Was all mesh. Yes, JRocket. BUT, was 04 or 05 when that happened? Maybe out of production now(for obvious reasons?)?

    My current is full textile, with removable liner.
    Any textile is a "single use" item IMHO, same as a helmet
