    looking for my first tacoma
Hey everyone, I want to get my first tacoma and there seems to be a lot of wisdom on this forum. My budget is 15k-20k and 4x4 is a necessity. I live in socal but will be moving to colorado or vt at the end of the year.

What gen would you be looking at to get a 4x4 in that price range? Any other suggestions or bits of wisdom for a noob?

    Much thanks!

Depends on if you want the four door model or the access cab, which can make a big difference in price. I got my 2008 Tacoma Access Cab SR5 4x4 v6 Auto w/ 65k miles on it for $17k but that was four years ago.

My advice is to be patient with your search and you'll be rewarded.

    Looking for access cab.

There are a few around here with approx 150k miles in the $9k range. Not sure if I should go for something like that or spend a bit more for lower mileage.

That's not bad, they gave me $7k when I traded in my 05 access cab and that was a 2wd 4cyl. manual trans with like 130k miles. I knew I was going to put a lot of miles on mine and I wanted to do a lot of mods so I was willing to pay for less miles. So kinda depends on what you plan to do with the truck and how long you think you'll have it. I don't plan to get rid of mine and will eventually become a dedicated trail rig.

Depending on your location you'd want to check the frame for rust and see if they've inspected it for the recall. You can get a new frame for free if you qualify under the recall. 150k isn't bad but I'd rather have something closer to 80k miles and pay a bit more but just my opinion.
